I started playing golf again about a year ago and couldn't hit the Odyssey White 2-Ball putter to save my life and had to change back to my old Dual Force 990. Was I the only one that couldn't putt with it?

Putters are very person to person.

There's no one putter fits all solution out there.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

The 990 is a solid putter...I have one and my partner Mr. Shanky still games his.

I hated my friends 2 ball putter. It has no mass weight in it at all. For long putts, I tended to always pull or push my putts cause I kept having to use more force to hit the ball due to lack of weight in the club.

I tried it when I started to get serious about golf and I thought it had good weighting but I just couldnt aim with it. The 2 ball alignment just was not for me.

Actually got it for Christmas...with the line...lovin' it!

I got a 2 ball back in 2009, was deadly from about 5 foot in.  never seem to miss anything from that range.

however i noticed whenever I had a longer lag putt I was leaving myself either way too long or short.  As some mentioned above it was fairly light.  I swapped it out for a White Hot Tour Blade style which is heavier and havent looked back.  The heavier putter helped me dial in the lag putts.

My future brother in law has an older 2 ball and likes it. I myself can't line myself up right with one. I have the White Hot XG 330 Mallet and love it!!

OK, I got my putter, the 2 Ball Blade Lined.  The lines really make a difference.  I have been using it along with a new path trainer (IDL) and have had success with it especially on the 5 and in range.  So far so good as I am hitting my line more often.  I just have to start reading the putts better.

    • A few months back I purchased the following swing aid on Amazon ($130). It is solidly made of steel and heavy and stable in use. I use it both at the range and at home. Swing Plate Dual PRO by Jamie Brittain - Swing Analyzer Aid - Fits Standard 8mm Alignment Rod Sticks - Teaching Swing Plane Perfector - Indoor/Outdoor Golfing Practice. This winter I set a goal for myself to improve my backswing/downswing to be more consistent and on plane. I had a two way miss with my approach shots this past golf season. I have a hitting set-up in my garage, but I needed something to provide feedback while swinging the club. I came across the Swing Plate while browsing YouTube.   I set it up with the correct angles for my 8 iron. I started out with just the back rod in place, which prevents me from getting too far inside on the backswing. Started out slow and as I got comfortable increased my swing speed. Now I also came across a YouTube video on building a better backswing and getting more width in the backswing and added that to my practice. That video is here:    This video is a bit wordy since you are basically a fly on the wall as Ian gets a lesson. It took a few replays to be able to get the substance of the instruction. It was well worth the effort. Over the last two weeks I have been able to get out on the course and gauge how successful my practice has been. Overall, my consistency with approach shots has improved greatly. Incorporating the added width in my swing has also added a few yards to all my clubs.  What has your off-season training been like?
