For some of the experienced club technicians out there, I am curious and endeavour to try it out for myself. Now without wanting to spend lots of money for trial and error stuff.
My goal is to reshaft my 2007 burner driver with something like a low spin shaft.
I have watched a few videos on youtube of how to take the old shaft out, and just wonder if i could use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun to heat the ferule when removing the old shaft?

when removing a shaft, I push the ferrule up the shaft so that the pry bar can fit between the vice and the head. I doubt a hair drier will do the job of a heat gun. you certainly will not dry hair using a heat gun.

mic the shaft to be replaced and make sure that the new shaft matches or that you have the correct sleeve adapter for installation

No, hair dryer won't do the job. You should get a mini torch instead.

The cost of buying Reshafting tools is more expensive than paying someone to do it. So you better pay a club builder to do it.

I'm looking into getting into club fitting myself. I know the tools will be more expensive than paying someone.

What else do you need except a touch, a vice, and some way to cut the shaft/shafts to get started.

No, a hair dryer won't work. A heat gun is best for someone who is new to pulling shafts since the temp is high enough to melt the epoxy but not hot enough to damage to head. A propane torch can be around 1000 degrees F hotter than a heat gun and takes more experience to prevent overheating. In my club building class I've seen guys use a blowtorch improperly and ended up deforming the shaft socket.

With that said, I'm with the other guy who said take it to a shop and have them pull it for you.

untrue. The only tools/materials you need: mini torch, sand paper, epoxy.

You can easily extract any shaft without a shaft puller. It's not difficult. Youtube is your friend. I pulled X100s from my 695s and put in Rifle flighted 6.0s. No problem. Played them all season.

Pulling steel is a different animal than graphite. Get a proper puller and I'm not talking about a pry bar either.

How well do you know the golf pros and clubsmiths in your area? If you have worked with one in the past, ask one to walk you through the reshafting process. That way, you learn the proper how-to details.

Lately I have a lot of customers requesting shaft changes from one driver to another.  You have to be careful not to damage the customer’s graphite shaft during the removal process or it’s destroyed.   I was looking for a hydraulic puller that was affordable and well made to replace the manual puller I’d been using.  I wasn’t really in love with it anyway.  A friend had the BT Puller and let me try it.  It was really easy to use.  He waited until I used it to tell me the price.  I ordered one the next day.  This unit is really well made and you can even use it for regripping.

Also looks like an awfully thin piece of hot rolled strap steel that's welded to the ram.  Looks like that would bend very easily.

To the OP... for a couple bucks, you can probably find a local pro shop or club builder that can remove your shaft in just a couple minutes.  Then take the head home, prep the hosel and the shaft, and install the new shaft yourself.  A hair dryer and a pry bar is just asking for trouble with a graphite shaft.
