We'll call it the rollercoaster round today.

Don't know why, but I was really grumpy for the first couple holes. Bogeying the 1st didn't help my disposition any either! Made a great, short-sided up and down for par on 2 which made me fell a little better. But parred the shortish par-5 3rd from 245 and the middle of the fairway. Missed from about 8 feet on 4 for birdie and them after almost chipping in on 5, missed a par putt from 2 feet! So there I am, 2-over after 5.

Holes 7, 8, 9 and 10 are all get-able par 4s. Should have nothing more than my 58* wedge in and I'm expeting to birdie at the very least, 2 of them. That'll get me back on track. 7, I super-block a drive into the fairway bunker, hit my approach to 15 feet and miss the put. 8, nice drive, fair 58* and miss my 10 footer. 9, Good drive, decent 58*, miss my 8 footer. 10, okay drive, whatever 58*, miss my 10 footer!!! damnit! I've played five rounds here so far, and have still yet to make a putt from outside 6 feet! Argh

Hole number 11. Alright drive leaves me 118y to the hole. Cut-off PW and tt was looking good the whole way, I asked for it to go in. Sure enough, draino! Destroyed the cup! I threw it straight down in there! 12 was playing 226 slightly into the wind. I was thinking hole-in-one after the last hole. Great shot, pin high to about 8 feet. You know me and anything outside 6 feet here, miss. Whatever, I'm happy with a par on the hole.

13 is a nice par 5. Solid driver, nice 3 wood to about 25 feet. A bit of a slider from right to left. 2-putt birdie, nice. 14 treated me alright too. Played downwind today, so I hit 2h off the tee, 54* wedge from 108y, 3 feet, nice birdie. 4-under on the back through 5 holes!

15, bogey... Blah tee shot, janky approach from fairway bunker into a greenside bunker. Didn't get up and down, but at least only lost one stroke. 16, good par after wayward tee shot. 17, 8 iron par-3 to about 12 feet. finally put a good stroke on a putt but burned the edge, I'll take par. 18, tricky stinkin' par-5. 3i, 3w, 58* from 45y, 2-putt.

2-over on the front, 3-under on the back. 1-under on the day. Could have been better, could have been much worse! Movement in the right direction, feeling good.

I was second group out this morning, so I'm sure it'll be a while before results are posted. www.asiantour.com will post later. I think I'm walking on the edge at 1-under total. 3-under tomorrow should get me safe. 1-under again and I'll be watching the leaderboard closely...

    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
