Back in the saddle, after a week or so off.

Things were hurting in the herniated cervical discs on the weekend so it was time to back off. A weekend without real golf, but there was friendly putting contest with my son ... during the Masters.

Back at the range after a week off, and everything was still working. The 70 degree weather really seemed to encourage the ball to fly. The PW was going 145 which is normally 8 iron for me. The 5 iron was rolling out nicely and flying well, but but but the new Cobra S9-1 5-Wood is just amazing.

It goes fairly straight for me. Only complaint is it can tend toward a low screaming ball flight, which I already have from my strong 13-deg 3-wood. I'm learning how to hit it on a higher trajectory off the deck, as I need it to land a little more softly with less roll in some situations. But I'd imagine it'll be more versatile off the tee.

Either way, I found it can be hit at varying angles, just have to figure out how to do that consistently when needed. I have to imagine the driver must be sick.

On the screws with perfect trajectory it carried about 200-210 -- it seems to be replacing my harder to hit 3 wood. Uh oh. All in all I thought it was one of the best clubs I've ever hit.
