Well here we are end of May and the "Road to 0.0" is a tight and twisty, steep, mountainous drive
I was watching a +.02 index on the range the other day – all i can say is wow
people say when you watch a good ball striker, they really make a different sound at impact...they do
I dont have this yet

To be honest the range BORES THE HELL outta me......i have tried different games, shots etc...i just hate it
my ball striking is good...not like the +.02 dude....but good
so not enough to warrant me spending hours out there hitting balls

My index has gone up from 2.9 to 4.5 in the past month
I am going more by my scoring average right now, as I think it’s a better reflection of what I am really doing
Consistency and practice has been my issue and most likely directly related
A ton of rain and the ability to find time to get out and practice has been hard
I have been building my deck lately (a 2 tier 650 sq. ft deck..its sweet) and work
Work has not been busy enough for me, so I am trying to focus on keeping a happy medium between trying to find new deals and golf
And to make things harder, a new baby on the way in less than 2 months (#2 for us)
I seriously have the best wife in the world - she is so understanding and supports me in this game 100%
If i need to get out or go practice, whatever - she never says a word and says "have fun!" - shes the best

Although I am not giving up, I do think this is going to be a lot tougher than I originally thought
I took lessons for the first time ever and this has helped w my alignment off the tee and I now have a new overlap grip
New grip feels great – 10 finger just feels awkward now

Putting:
Well if you have been following my BLOGS, you will know that these has been my nemesis
I don’t know why, but I have zero confidence standing over the ball
All other aspects of my game show that I COULD get there…if I could just putt
Hitting 10-13 GIR and shooting a high 70’s round just doesn’t make sense
I may pick up an indoor putting green thingy just to putt every night to get some muscle memory of the correct stroke…..may help…..maybe not………
I also got fitted for a new putter recently – bought a RIFE Island Series Abaco
Really like it, just need to get used to it (and it needs a new grip SOO BAD…today maybe ill hit up Golf Town to get one installed

My course:
I have come to realize that this course plays A LOT tougher than what it is rated for
The greens are tiny and everyone as at minimum 2 tiers
The course I mostly played last year was LONG at 6900 yds from Black Tees
But the greens were huge and flat and it rates higher??? Maybe cause of the length?

I really played well there, because I can hit it long
My new course required some tight approach and tee shots
I am starting to know what clubs to play where, but that changes daily of course, weather and wind depending

Nothing but more rain in the forecast for the next 3 days…..so golf is out
Maybe hit the indoor range just to swing might be in order

As Jamo stated in his last BLOG, this "BLOG" section has been really good for keeping track of where you were, are and going to be
Shout out to Sean Miller for getting me started writing a BLOG as well

Anyways……….

Staying positive and looking forward to getting out as soon as Mother Nature gets her sh*t together and gives us some sunshine

Stay tuned…..

It's been helping me too. Reading other people's and writing my own.

I think writing the odd narrative, post-round, helps prepare for that course next time. Visit course websites - some have tips from the pros - and try to understand why the course and hole ratings are what they are. Example: on short courses, you can plan on airmailing the hazards or laying up to a flat lie in the fairway. Reduce the doubles to no more than one per round that way.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
