Played today at a nice little 9 hole course in Essex, MA called Cape Ann Golf Course. Par 34 with no par 5 but some great scenic holes. It's right off the mub flats in Essex so when high tide is in as it was today it's gorgeous. shot a 47 which I was tickled with for the fact that it was the first round where I committed to the Stack & Tilt swing full bore. I have read and re-read Mike and Andy's book several times but other than the great words of advice here and on Golf Evolution I was trying to give it a go. Lately, I have been using slo-mo swing work at home with a weighted club to try and get the hip slide down. I have always been that golfer who started my downswing with my shoulders so this move has been tough for me to get down. After 20+ years of having no consistency I rip my first drive down the right side and it DRAWS back to the middle of the fairway 232 yards out. I hit my driver between 230 and 250 normally but that ball flight has made an appearance for me maybe five times in my life. With the score I have there was obviously a bit of some circus shots but I must say my missies were either pushes (maybe one push fade) or I thinned 2 or 3 shots as I came up over doing trying to push my hips forward. Those are the kind of mistakes I feel I can live with as by proof of some of the shots that came off for me today. Hit my 5 iron today twice 195 -200 and that's a club that I think about at 180 normally. Great contact and a great feel with this swing for most of the round (just more than I would like going the wrong direction ). Thank you to Erik, Dave, James, Steve, Zeph, Stretch, and anyone else who has given some great mental pictures of what some of these moves should feel like and what moves should be avoided. I can' wait ti hit the range this week and continue solidifying my confidence in this swing. WOW!

Good to hear you are playing well. I tried to be self taught S&T; for a while (books, DVD, websites) but found myself working on the wrong things. I needed the guidance of an instructor to consistently improve with short term and long term goals. Look into evolvr if you haven't already.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
