This is a great picture of Furyk, just after impact

http://www.golf.com/golf/gallery/article/0,28242,2039314-8,00.html

Now Furyk is known for his fade, but look at how his clubface is open just after impact, not closed. His heads still down, not looking to see were the ball went. His left hip has gone back and up. His right foot is just comming off the ground..

I think its a great picture of some good solid fundamentals from a guy who has one of the unorthadox swings in golf.

To be fair, it's virtually impossible to know where his clubface is pointing given the camera position well to the left of his stance line. You can clearly see the ball starting well to the right as well, and I think you can't draw too many conclusions about the face, the starting line of the ball, or whether either are "open" or "closed" given the way the camera is positioned.

The other things, sure, you can see those.

Well i find it interestnig that you look at the picture and you think he must have a great swing, and he does, it works, he wins, probably one of the most accurate golfers this decade. But when you look at that backswing, it just doesn't seem possible.

I was going to comment on the camera angle too, but I thought this might be one of a series of famous pitctures. Regarding Jim's unique backswing (and I'm sure he doesn't mind me calling him Jim), he has been quoted as saying he's well aware that it's not a standard move. He also says (in his Johnny Walker ads) that he has to work extra hard on his swing because of it. Looks like it's paying off.
