Hi every1,ive been playing golf for 17 years now and im currently playing off 10.I play with right handed clubs and use a left handed grip,is there any1 else out there playing the same and if so how are you getting on?

Your left hand is lower than your right on the club for full swings?

I think I read something about that once. You probably don't have much trouble hitting down on your shots, eh?

I'd probably switch. A ten is good, but if you want to get to low singles, you're going to want the help of a pro, most likely, and I don't think too many would be able to help someone who grips the club "backwards."

Bunkerman,
A chap i was very friendly with years ago played "cack-handed" on everything and got down to a handicap of 3 i believe. He used to generate MASSIVE shoulder turn and hit the ball a country mile.He was of Irish descent and thought the grip originated from playing hurling as a boy in Ireland.

To be honest mate if you been playing for 17 years that way, you'll probably find you may never get to a handicap of 10 if you now try to play in a more orthadox manner.Stick with it and make the most of what youve got buddy say i......

Whats "normal" in this game anyway ? lol

Thats exactly what the pro said too me when i had my 1st and only lesson but when you feel comfortable doing what comes naturally why change and after all im hitting the ball off the tee 300 yards and straight, when pros come back with the kind of encouragement you have, its no wonder people give the game up before theyve started!!Ive not got a problem with my game in fact too this date im still too be beaten in comps!!!!What do you say too that?

Mate,my advice still stands.I was a pro for 13 years so speak with some experience.

If your happy, and 10 handicap isnt shabby, then get out there and kick-butt !

There isnt any right or wrong technique-wise."Better,more common, more popular, more technically sound" etc sure, but right or wrong is a little too black or white for me.

Only thing any sound short game requires is as few moving parts as possible,a descending blow, hands leading the clubface and acceleration.

As im sure you know.......

    • 2/23/25 Musgrove Mill Oak tees 72.3/155 Joined this club this year, and have played several times this year. Yesterday, the greens were the first day open since aeration. I struggled to hold greens, and putted as one would expect on aerated greens. For the first time in a while, my tee game was off and only hit 6 fairways when I have been averaging around 70%. Only 15 holes were open as they repair three holes damaged by Hurricane Helene.    Game continues to decline and handicap continues to increase!

    • I'd just get the Stack Radar. I've never been totally comfortable with how it measures, those things. I think people put them in the wrong place. I think it's highly sensitive to where you swing… if you swing the tip end through the radar "beam" (it's not a beam, but you know what I mean I think), you get the true speed. But if you swing the spot 6" up the shaft through the beam, you get a much slower speed. For the wedge stuff alone I recommend the Stack Radar. Plus data entry is SOOO easy.
    • Does anyone else have the swing speed radar and had the experience of it going completely haywire? It’s been decent for me until the last 2 weeks. I’m now getting readings on back to back swings that are 20 mph off. I’m getting absolute garbage from it - I have to swing many times to get something close to right. The only thing that works (sometimes) is taking the batteries out. Here's the radar I'm talking about: Amazon.com : Swing Speed Radar - Achieve Longer Drives - Delivers Precise Golf Club Swing Speeds from 20 to 200 MPH. Master Consistency with Our US Made Doppler Radar Training Tool for Instant Speed Results : Golf Swing Trainers : Sports & Outdoors Thinking about just biting the bullet on a stack radar at this point.
