Is shooting balls at driving range a good workout to lose some fat? How many balls do you need to make it a great workout?

Hey Ronald, If it's your goal to shed some pounds then I would say no, hitting balls is not the answer.  You need to get your heart rate up to really be effective on loosing weight.  I'm not saying hitting balls is not good exercise, it is.  Anything getting you up and moving around is a plus.

Ronald, hitting balls would relate more to strength training, and flexibility. You are working out the muscles.

Fat-burning and cardiovascular workouts include running, treadmill, elliptical or spinning bike, staircase climb, or maybe swimming. (The difference between fat-burning and cardio is the sustained heart rate level: cardio is higher. The workout heart-rate levels differ according to a person's age).

Gyms and fitness centers offer a lot of promo events during winter, like try us for a month for $15. If you went through the promo, you could tell what that gym had to offer. On occasion, one of the trainers will offer golf-specific workouts.

If you don't exercise much and still have a 14 HDCP, a little conditioning might help you into the single digits.

Moe Norman always claimed that hitting balls was the best workout there was. On the other hand, he pounded, like, a thousand a day and still wasn't exactly in cage fighting shape.

Ronald,

Left out a good fat-burner activity: Walking when you play especially if your carry your bag. I had noticed when I played golf frequently, I was able to lose weight. A co-worker who is a marathon runner says walking on a somewhat hilly course would likely put your heart rate into the fatburning zone, and keep it there for several hours.

Any fitness trainers have specifics on this?
