Would you refurbish this putter?

I have just purchased this studio 1.5 from ebay.

Grooves are all ok, no rust just some paint wearing off.

I am going to change the grip to a leather one.

Should I refurb it or am I being too fussy?

Do you care what it looks like or what the value is?  If not, then no.

If you want to turn it into a brand new looking Scotty, though, the Cameron refurb studio will make it gleam and is worth the $130-200.

I am worried if I send it back to the studio I will lose the gun blue finish and have to have pro platinum which I cant stand

I think I would play a few rounds with it to see if it is a keeper.  Even though I am a smug curmudgeon regarding high dollar putters, I think the Scotty custom shop refurb is a pretty good deal.  Restoration to original plus a leather grip will run you about $202, plus any other options and shipping and insurance, but you get essentially a new putter, headcover, box, and I think shaft?  As to the finish, the only one they don't do is Black Pearl. If you want a tour finish it has to have had that finish originally. If you have black pearl, you are not limited to pro platinum--they will do charcoal mist. I got all this off the website; I'd contact them for specifics before I sent it.

While I do think the restoration package is a pretty good value if you want it, it is not necessarily a good investment, so that is why I would only do it if I was pretty much in love with the putter as a gamer. The next buyer might not like your choices as much as you. If the appearance is not that important to you, game it like it is.  You can get a leather grip from any competent club maker for around 35-60 installed. Best Grips makes some I think.  Scotty charges $57 for their Pittard's as part of restoration, don't know if its available separately.

The only trouble I have is the shipping will cost me 70 dollars each way becuase I am in the uk.

I did want to return it to Titleist for them to do (refurb runs about £80) but I dont have a dealer that wants to help locally

Paint fill removed with acetone and just going to work on the polishing of the club

Give me a couple of days this thing will be rockin!

I am going to soak it in coca-cola overnight to remove any corrosion

Then get to work with some autosol and a dremel with a polishing wheel

the coke managed to take all of the gunmetal look off it as well

I am loving the bare look

I like it. Do you clean it with oil to keep it from rusting?
