I ran out of Top Flight Gamer v2 balls and I'm considering trying another ball. One ball I'm considering is the Bridgestone e5. From what I've read, it seems like there are two versions of the e5 (excluding the e5+) from different years: The original e5 and the 2010 e5. 1) Is that correct? Are there any more versions of the ball? 2) Is there any visual way to distinguish the balls from different years? 3) Would official Bridgestone refurbished balls (such as this) mix the years? If I'm going to try the e5, it looks like a steal to get that Amazon package (since I can get free shipping), but from what I hear I want the 2010 e5, not the previous version. It seems like it's traditionally accepted that ball manufacturers change the balls subtly between the years. I kind of wish they'd just stamp a small "v1, v2, ..." on the ball so we can tell the difference.

There is a new, 2011 Bridgestone e5 ball...I just picked up a dozen today.

It is different from previous versions in that it has a dual dimple design.  Just like your Top Flight Gamer!

Here is a link to more info on the ball from Bridgestone: http://www.bridgestonegolf.com/product/balls/e5

I've always liked the e5 balls; higher ball flight and a bit more distance off the tee for me with decent greenside spin.

You're right, there is a 2011 version. Makes me wonder if it was changed in 2010 after all, because I doubt they'd upgrade it that fast. I wonder if there are any marking differences on the ball itself.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
