So I'm 2.5 months into this Stack and Tilt journey. I've been really focused on the positions and haven't started working the ball since I've been trying to learn the pattern. Can some of the experienced guys talk about grip, stance, ball position, swing thoughts, etc for each of the 9 positions?

i am just starting to get into the pattern, but i bought the s and t book and there is a lot of good stuff in there pertaining to ballflight as well as the entire swing.  very good stuff.  i would definately recommend it if you dont already have it.

but it would be better for somebody with more experience in s and t than me to help you on this as working the ball like how they do it is very new to me...and i have some questions as well.  but they got moved into a bigger thread that nobody has commented on yet.

so i will be interested to see what anybody has to say here in this thread.

A few things...

  1. Mac O'Grady's "nine windows" were all stacked on top of each other. High-high, high-medium, high-low, medium-high, medium-medium, medium-low, low-high, low-medium, low-low. They had nothing to do with curve. I've adjusted your title not to say "Windows." S&T, if forced to put it somewhere, is a medium-high push-draw pattern.
  2. 95% of the shots the average PGA Tour pro hits on the course are their stock shots.
  3. Some basics, though: if you want the ball to go higher, jump more. If you want the ball to go lower, stay in flexion more. If you want to push-fade it, line up more left.

Beyond that, it's going to require some more in-depth stuff and you'll have to be really comfortable with the basic pattern before we start talking about where your left arm should be instead, etc.

I don't even mess with that stuff too much, frankly. It's just not necessary. I can do it, and know how, but in a round when scoring counts a shot that's 60% likely to come off versus one that's 95% likely never wins.
