Looking at a new driver.  Swing speed in the 108-111 range.  Ball speed is around 156-163.  Currently playing 983k with Graffaloy Pro Lite Stiff.  The RIP would be the 60 gram and the Ahina would be the 72g.  What are the differences between these shafts?  I hit them both in the hitting bay at Golfsmith and both felt good.  RIP seemed to provide more distance and less spin (according to vector) but ball speed was higher and carry was higher with Ahina  Both launched in the 12.5-13.5 range.

ahina should launch higher, it has a lower kickpoint. Bith solid depends on what you want. I play the rip but i play in a ton of wind and need to keep it low

I have both..  both are good shafts..  ive been playing the RIP last year or so..  Just switched out to the 72 gr Ahina.. Feels better but not sure about distance as just switched..  the Ahina seems to spin less for me maybe due to the weight differential.   Into the wind the Ahina definitely gives me more confidence, seems to bore better.

I just started playing the Aldila about 2 weeks ago and love it. The lower torque in it helps me a ton. I am so much more accurate now. Plus I gain about 5 miles an hour in swing speed with the lighter shaft. My opinion is get what you like best but for me the aldila is the one I hit best.

I actually own both shafts for my driver (D2, 8.5, setting C2).  Both mine are x-stiff, but I believe the bend profile is pretty much the same.  I started with the 72g ahina, which in my opinion is a decent shaft, but it does't play as stiff as the RIP.  The shaft is fine but I found with the RIP my dispersion was down and the carry and roll were close to the same with both shafts for me.  I ended up with the heavier (80g) version of the RIP and I love it.  The 70g and 80g versions of RIP both launch a little lower with slightly less spin than the 60g stock option, and both of them can be custom ordered from Titleist with your driver as a no cost upgrade over the stock 60g RIP.  On the monitor I carry the RIP 5-10 yards farther than the ahina, mostly because for me at least it spins about 250 rpm less than the ahina.

I had the Ahina, and switched the RIP. I like the RIP much better. Lower spin works better for me personally.

In my Ogio bag.

Titleist 910D2 driver, Adams irons & hybrid, Callaway wedges & a Nike Method putter.

And a yellow ball.

Whatever choice you make, be sure that you have an original after market shaft.  The Ahina that comes with say a Ping G20 driver IS NOT the same as the after market Ahina that costs around $300.  I know that for a fact as I have tried both.  I would rather get a cheaper after market shaft for around $ 60 than stay with the original super brand name shaft on my driver.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
