Yoga.  Started about a year and a half ago.  3-4 times per week about 25 per session.  It has made a big difference in my golf game and helped the problems I was having with sciatica.

100% agree, especially with the lower back/sciatica comment.  I'm a big dude, 6'6", 240, off and on lower back issues for a while and I have always just lifted weights and done cardio, but doing yoga has helped with my flexibility and just my overall physical being.  If you want a challenge, that P90X program has a really butt kicking yoga portion to it you can probably get on Youtube or something, but just the regular run of the mill yoga stretching and poses make a big difference.

I was in a minor auto accident in 2006, and was diagnosed with an arthrithic hip about 14 months ago. Both involved some physical therapy, and I came up with some updated back and flexibility exercises in the process. The guy who treated me for the hip is a golfer, and treats a fair number of golfers.

The big inflated Swiss balls can be a good source of flexibility. This web site lists several SB exercises you can do. (I plugged this into an earlier thread this week. Some may have already seen it.)

I'm finding that flexibility is an overall condition. If you include stretches in regular workouts, you can warm up more easily when getting ready to play. People who never work out aren't going to get true flexibility doing the three "behind the back" golf club stretches on the tee box.

    • Day 19: worked with foam balls for a while. Going slow to make sure I’m rolling and twisting. It feels weird, which is good. Going to take more work, but I’m on the way I think.
    • Day 39 (16 Apr 26) - Back to easy swings as the lead foot was overly tender from yesterday - stuck to some easy pitches with wedges and a few 1/2 tempo swings with 6i.  Was good to slow down and work on setup and overall alignment…
    • I saved the ball and wrote the details -- "my first eagle," course, hole number, and date on it.  Maybe I should write the yardage and the club too.
    • Day 8, April 16.  Continued pelvis turn drills after work today;  I've already spent 20 minutes doing this, am taking a short break (and have fulfilled the challenge for the day) and then I'm back to it.
    • Played 9 holes tonight. Driver is hit or miss, but I haven’t practiced that at all. It was a struggle to get sequencing down for the arms and lower body. I definitely have to do my downswing wrist piece a lot or I just push the crap out of the ball. Pitching needs some work. Chipping was good, chipped in twice. Putting was fine.  Shank Counter: 2
