Newb here, need some help

I've been a professional hacker for years who never took a lesson, it shows, but loves the game. Just one of my problems is that i hit a 5 iron only about 150 yards. Consequently, i can't hit any of the lower clubs any further. A friend said i de-loft the club on my downswing, but i don't know how to correct this or if it truly is the problem. I guess i need to break down and use a green fee to pay for a lesson from a pro.

If you film a video of your swing, upload it to YouTube, create a thread titled My Swing (Gwoodgolfer), and embed the videos, you'll get a lot of guys willing to help out. But yeah, lessons should help out too.

i appreciate the advice. in this digital age, answers are a click away. my mind still does not think like the younger ones, youtube for an answer! i will try.
