Fun with homophobia! It's amazing how having enough money and, probably, education to be able to purchase golf clubs doesn't necessarily make one worldly.

I don't like the R11 line either...but no reason to reveal your own bigotry and gender-based insecurities on an inanimate, non-sexual, 'mass-produced' (in your words, because NO other golf line is mass produced...lol) golf club; the golf club isn't going to try to touch your wiener there, Dandy.

I've heard some rumors that Cobra and Puma are combining. My bosses cousin was a rep for Cobra and said that they were combining companies. I think TaylorMade is going to swallow all of the good golfers lol.

But seriously, it is crap. Its mass produced and feels cheap. Taylormade  acts under the rule "quantity over quality." Most people that buy it have just seen too many commercials OR had it stuffed down their throat at the golf store by uneducated sales people. I have tried Taylormade products, several times. I gamed a 2010 Raylor hybrid, which I promptly returned. Ive hit the Burner drivers (which suck!) and the R9's several times (which were just ok) but I didn't like them enough to put them in the bag. I purchased some R9 TP's several months ago, played them 5 times, and got rid of them (they were terrible!!) and recently I have hit the new R11 driver, and it feels decent, but there are other drivers that are better (Adams, Ping, Titleist, etc…) and they don't look gay. That R11 looks like a big freakin goose egg. Its fugly!

It all comes down to marketing. Titleist does it with their ProV1 and Taylormade does it with their drivers… AND THEY SELL BECAUSE OF IT!! People will believe anything they see on TV or read in a magazine. If you claim anything is the #1 whatever "in golf" or "on the tour" people will buy it, doesn't matter if its good or not. NOW, part of that marketing strategy is paying pros to play their products. This is not new, business' have been doing it since the beginning of modern business!

Im not a band wagon type of person. I like to play what works, not what everyone else "says" is the best.

… And Taylormade is crap… LOL

How did this hate for TaylorMade come about?

I'm just as annoyed at you at TM's marketing, but you can't say their products are rubbish.

They might advertise their Burner irons as 10 yards longer than a competitor's product and this might mainly be as a result of super strong lofts. You might consider the white color just a useless claim to sell clubs that are different.

But you can't say the clubs don't perform. As much as I don't intent to game TM, their clubs are great. You can't bash a brand who sells hundreds of thousands of golf clubs a year, has a huge number of pros on tour and design well performing clubs solely because of your opinion or , as Shorty put it, your inability to hit a club in the sweet spot.

I've hit both the R11 and Burner 2.0 and both were really solid drivers... I especially liked the feel of the R11 and I like it's adjustability.  Personally, I don't like the white paint job, but that's whatever.  If I had the extra cash for something like that I would probably consider it.  I'll play whatever happens to feel good so long as I can afford it.

As for Camillo switching to Taylormade, I suspect that they are paying him a good chunk of change.  Plus, he seems to fit their image pretty well in my opinion.

I don't know if you are being facetious or not, but Cobra is not inferior to TaylorMade, it's just a matter of preference.  They no longer have the budget to have as many guys on their staff (Puma has equal revenue as Fortune Brands [Acushnet], but their operating budget has decreased after the sale), but that does not imply that their stuff is crap.  I've played Cobra in the past, and I would say their equipment was actually slightly higher quality than TM.  And as is the case for all pros, Camillo wasn't playing stock Cobra irons, so you can't assume he has improved equipment based on your personal experience of the equipment.  The only thing that improved is his bank account, because results indicate that his game sure hasn't.

I choose not to have TM clubs, but they aren't "crap".

Just because you don't have the ability to hit the sweet spot of any golf club on the planet, apparently, doesn't mean that those clubs are "crap".  That description pretty clearly defines something else....

Strange how so many pros seem to love the R9 and R11 - but you don't rate them.  I wonder whose opinion I'll listen to?

Please explain in detail WHY "Ping, Titleist etc...." are "better".  Methinks you'll be basing you opinions on marketing hype, the thing you purport to despise. Are they not mass produced?

Of course they are.  What a moronic argument you present.

All of these "terrible" clubs have one thing in common; you can't hit them.  Funny that.....

And what on earth are " businesses'  " ?

Wait wait wait? Hahaha, Im ignorant!?!?!? Read your post tard!

I based ALL of my opinions off of personal experience, and you just based yours on what? Yeeeea, exactly. You've never seen my swing, you've never seen me hit a ball, yet you somehow can comment about it like you know me and everything about my game, because why? You post a fake handicap in your personal information??? Wow, hmm… see" the irony there "mr super smart I use big words to try to appear intelligent guy."

Thanks for replying douche! "A" for effort… Looks like I ruffled your feathers. Hahahahaha

Ahh did I offend you fruit cake?? My bad… LOL

You liberal tree huggers really need to learn how to relax and not take everything so seriously or personal. Gay is not always used in terms of "faggot" so get over it. Its a figure of speech. SO don't be so gay! Hahaha

LOL, Im not sure where my apparent "inability to hit the sweet spot" came from, but I do just fine with that, thanks… Hahaha. I was unaware that by stating you don't like a certain brand for whatever reason means that someone else can say you just cant hit any clubs at all. Hmm… so does that mean if I decide to like everything equally now that ill just magically become a scratch golfer who can hit everything perfectly??? Using shorty's logic, apparently it does…

Like I said I base my opinions of of my own experience. NOT commercials, NOT word of mouth, NOT what shorty says… Haha I have tried several Taylormade clubs, and each and every one has been just as disappointing and bland as the next one. AND also like I said the R11 is MAYBE the only Taylormade club I would play. It surprisingly feels decent.

Furthermore, Lets address the "mass produced" point. Go in to a large golf store with used clubs, and tell me the Taylormade bins don't outnumber the other manufacturers bins by 2-3 times as many… At my local Roger Dunn store there are 6 large bins of just R9 drivers alone!!! There is only 1 for Ping. 1 for Adams, 1 for Callaway, etc… SO yeah, like I said… mass produced. And apparently not well liked. Hahaha

I think a loyalty to a brand will only be proven if the aforementioned pro doesn't get paid for using it

I have been playing golf for 40+ years and have never owned a TM product in my life up until 3 weeks ago. I have played Pings, Callaways, and Wilson Staff over the years. So I am by no means a bandwagon devoted follower of anything. I demoed a set of 2.0's, they worked and I bought. Simple as that. I doubt anyone who plays TM products with good results give a rats a$$ what people like you think. Much less a PGA tour player.

I think hating a brand unconditionally is a bad as loving one unconditionally.

Well I can respect that. And I in no way meant that people all people who play Taylormade are hacks or can't play golf. I think way too many people on here are taking some light joking a little too seriously.

I'll agree with you on that.

Im pretty open minded when it comes to clubs, but after so many attempts to find a Taylormade product I liked, and not finding it, or even coming close for that matter. I just decided I don't like them. Now thats not to say that I still don't walk into a golf shop and try one out here and there. But I have yet to find one that fits my game. The R9 Superdeep TP was a nice driver, but I just didn't like it as much as I liked many others. The R11 is a decent driver, but for $400, heck no!!

To reorient the thread in the right direction.... I've seen him more often with the Superfast 2.0 in his hands.  Camillo was a Cobra staff player, not so much a 'fan' as a marketing tool.  It's no secret that TM has the budget to bring many tour players on staff, as well as being able to pay non-staff players to put clubs in play for events.

I think they make a fine product.  They've also figured out how to market products well.  Sure we've got plenty of ads pushing products at us, but having hit most of their stuff I'd say the popularity is well deserved.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
