I have a couple of golftowns opening up here in Massachusetts and I signed up for their news letter. The open on thursday and sent me a PDF version of their in store circular. Within the irons section of the circular were a set of Maruman Majesty Vanquish iron for $4599. Wow has anyone heard of that brand? and why are they so expensive

These are the super hitech clubs made for Asian . They are light and easier to hit than US clubs. The Driver it self is about $1.5 k to $2k.

I've been curious if Japanese clubs will be more popular or more expensive since the tragedy over there.

I have read that Japanese clubs are ridiculously expensive and are supposed to be better than what is avaiable here in the States. If they are so much better than why are all the top tour players using the same clubs avaiable here in the States?

Golf in Japan is a rich person's game. They have few courses with the population being large and the available land being at a premium. High priced clubs are normal there. In the late 80's and early 90's the prices to play golf got so high in Japan it was cheaper for golfers to fly to the US and play rather than join the exclusive courses in their home towns. Some even got together and bought courses in the US so they could fly in and play when they wanted.

If their economy recovers before ours I would expect they might start coming over and buying again, our courses are in such bad financial shape it could happen.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

These clubs are for the majoroty normal people , not tour pros including the Japanese pro. The clubs in US are too heavy and stiff for most Asian who are not so tall and big built. I m 6 ft tall weight about 190 pounds. I can't play this model of Maruman. It is too light . That is why US clubs are more suitable for me .

Yes, that's also my first thought while watching the tragic and scary reports from Japan. The price of golf clubs.
