PING - Tell Me About your Pings

i'm thinking about switching to PING clubs next season. i recently had a chance to swing the s57, 7 iron, and it felt very good.  i've been playing Titleist 735.cm for the last few years, so i'm familiar with the forged feel, player's club.  they have the split iron set, so the 8,9,PW are blades.  i saw this year PING came out with the Anser iron set which seems similar to my 735.cm set.

so...what do you like/dislike about your PINGs?  would you suggest the G15, K15, s56, s57, Anser?  and why.  I have also never been fitted, have you been fitted for PING and how was your experience?

I started out using PING eye's, then just recently switched to G10's.  I know they aren't mentioned on the list but I am amazed in the quality of the G10's and the forgiveness of the clubs.

My first set of clubs were PING Eye 2 irons...for a while I became a club whore and I have owned i5, i10 and i15 irons over the last couple of years (along with other manufacturers clubs)...but recently I started working with someone who has convinced me to pick a set of clubs (get fitted) and stick with them...so check out my sig ( G 15 irons are friggin awesome) as I went back to PING...in my mind PING keeps things simple...they may not be the most flashy clubs but they are engineered to help you with your game and regardless of what level you are, help is a good thing...I say if you have never played PING that you should give them a try...however, BEWARE that you may never play any other iron again as I have found my way back to stay!

Bought a set of s58's in 2008, have been using them since, very pleased, are somewhere in between blades and cavity backs, salesman called them half-blades.  Not quite sure that sums up these clubs.  For my handicap and game these are perfect at the moment, even the 4-iron is very playable and forgiving.  Had Callaway X-14's before these, and I do not like 7-W cavity backs, the S58's are much more blade like and I get more feel both from full shots to chips around the the green.

I also have a Ping HL (High launch) 2-iron, it is a great club for tricky tee shots, and of the fairway.  A little bit tricky in the rough.

Overall I am very pleased with the quality and options you get from PING, quality products.

i think my friend was using G2 a few years ago.  i only swung them a couple of times but from what i remember, they seemed to swing themselves once you got them started.  i like that in the low irons but i like to have playability/feel in my hi irons.

I hurt my shoulder as a kid so I had to switch to graphite shafts is 1997.  I was fitted for i3's.  I got the 1 thru w set. I love them.  This year I just was fitted for G15's.  The fitting experience is really cool.  Since these are my first new clubs and I am a little crazy I got fitted at Golf Galaxy then got a local pro to check the fitting out on the range.  The fitting at Golf Galaxy was really cool.  The teaching pro fitted me for about an hour.  I would really recomend it.  I also got fit for a putter which has helped.

so from what i can tell PING is doing down in these series of clubs? i.e. s58, s57, s56...oldest to newest.  i haven't seen the s58 but that sounds like exactly what i'm looking for....very similar to my 735.cm.  thanks for the info.  your 2 iron sounds awesome but i'm more of a hybrid player.  ever use a PING hybrid?

Anytime, I don't think you could go wrong with any PING set.  Go to your local golf shot hit a couple sets and find the one that works best for you.  To me it sounds like the S5x series would be a fit for you.

I needed the G10's because I am still learning the game, and having the G10's irons really helped me.

I hit the PING i-15's when being fitted and i must say they felt GREAT. Exellent feel off the face and if you are looking to get new irons i strongly recommend trying them out!

Anybody have experience with the i15 vs. the S56/S57's?

I'm considering switching to one of these two lines after this season...trying to get something more durable. I play and practice a lot. Looking for something cast with playability and durability. PING are the masters of durable.

I have been playing i15 last year for a few months, like many others stated I played the Eye 2 many years ago and those were great irons....... today the i15 (or g15) feel a bit clicky or hard compared to the competition. The Ping fitting system is nice, but the fitting of let's say Titleist or Mizuno is nothing less.

If I only look to the wide soles of the g15 ...... shovels !!!!

Anyway I played quite well with the i15, they kind of remind me of the Eye 2's I played in the 90's but they lacked a bit of the feel I was looking for.

S56 looks to be a good iron, but Ping isn't like Ping of the old days anymore ...... if you bought a Eye 2 it was still in production 5 yrs later and today it is a new set every year orso.......

Ping Eye 2 was a set for the beginner to a scratch player, but today you have to start with a g15 or k15, move up to a i15 after 2 years and move up to a s56 after two more years.........

I think the S58s generally received nice reviews, as do the S56 series, heard mixed things about the S57.  Yes strange that they go back on these numbers while going up with the i and G series.  Never used a hybrid, but am looking into replacing the 2-iron with a i15 or 910H from Titleist.  Looking forward to my birthday in June :)

Just bought some G10's.

I was in between the 10's and 15's. Hit both of them right much and didnt notice enough difference to pay the extra cash. The forgiveness is unlike anything I have hit before. I absolutely love them.

Anyway you go with Ping, you will not be disappointed.

I can not speak to the Ping irons, but I play the Ping G15 driver and Ping i15 5 woods and Im looking to pick up a Ping i15 3 wood this weekend. Awesome clubs! Ive not found anything ive liked this much or played this long.

I've played the eye2's, Zing2's, ISI's, i5's, S58's, i10's, G10's, i15's and now the Ansers.

All were good clubs but the i15's and Ansers are my favorites. I think both sets offer a great blend of accuracy, playability and forgiveness. If you want to save some money, try the i15's. If money isn't an object and you want that forged feel, try the Ansers.

There really is no wrong answer when dealing with Ping irons. It just depends on what set fits you best.

I have used ISI BeCu irons with rifle 6.0 since 2001. They are starting to show grove wear but I haven’t noticed any difference in playability. I love them! I did cheat on them for a while and got some Titleist 690CB with 6.5….Nice clubs, very shinny! They were longer and lower, but not as good in my opinion. I went back to my Pings. I was glad I never sold my BeCu Pings. I also use a Ping G-10 driver and a B60 Isoforce2 putter (that I have had since 2001). I haven’t fallen in love with the wedges or fairway woods though.
