First off, there's Sinaloa, the local pitch and putt for working on your short game:

I grew up in TO. Learned how to play at Sinaloa as a little kid. Went to WHS and played Westlake all the time in high school. Played Los Robles all the time too.

Welcome Fredd99x, guess your not playing today. Your course website listed your temp at -16*. The ball might break in half if you were able to get your frozen arms around to swing the club. When will the weather break so you can get outside, July? lol

Yeah it's pretty chilly out right now. It will be end of April before anything opens up and it won't exactly be warm out then. I do all my golfing at an indoor driving range that it is a big dome held up with air pressure. They also have a virtual golf setup in the lounge that is a lot of fun. Takes about 4 hours for a foursome to play 18 holes.

Gee, I never heard that the courses in Canada are not nice. I've heard there are some wonderful tracks up there.

Sure, they're iced over a lot of the year--just like here in Michigan. But I've heard they have nice courses there.

I found a link -- not an official link but a link to a listing of it

I remember playing there a few years ago in late fall with flurries. I grew up in Hooksett, NH, but played mostly at Derryfield CC in Manchester.

Hey guys, new to the site, looks good and very in depth. I am from Canada, my "home" course is under about 3 feet of snow but the website shows it off for now (oh please won't spring come soon)

Short course - tends to hold a lot of water. Greens stink but it is the only affordable place around! The thing is, with the right greenskeeper and a good tree saw, this place could actually be decent.

I usually play the Disney courses a lot because of the discount ($35/person for me and 3!), http://www.disneyworldgolf.com . But, I play Stoneybrook East mainly because it's just down the street on this side of town.

There are a couple of other courses that I rotate around since they're all next to each other. All the fancy courses are on the west side of town, but these are all nice to just go out and play 18 holes and still get a bit of a challenge.

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
