Has anyone tried to play speed golf?

Have you heard about the rugby teams that are using speed golf as a way of getting fit in pre-season training. It is the time you take to complete the round plus the amount of shots that you take.

Some versions of the game say that you have complete the hole when you reach the green while others say that you have to hole out!

Has anyone every tried it and what is it like?

I only saw something like that once. Once in Scotsdale I hooked up as a single with a Japanese family... father, mother and a son. We were in carts, except for the son who ran between every shot.

The parents explained that in Japan, time on a golf course was so precious that student teams were required to run between shots. And he did. I can't imagine playing like that, but it's obviously possible.

I wish some of my fellow players considered time so valuable.

As for getting in shape, I think there are better ways than disrupting the play of your companions (unless they all choose to do so and there's no one in front of you).

I haven't heard of speed golf before, but it sounds pretty self explanatory. There is a guy at my club that can play 18 holes in an hour. Except he's in a cart and just gets within like 3 feet of the hole and doesn't putt out he also goes when like no one else is out there.

When the course is empty I play 18 with my buddy in like 2.5 hours.. And I finish every hole..
