I went to TaylorMade Demo tonight and hit the R11 and the Superfast 2.0. I went with the intention of just hitting the R11 but the rep handed me a Superfast after about 12-15 balls and one adjustment to the R11. I hit the Supefast extremely well, better than the R11 (sweet.. saves a $100).

During the demo they had a launch monitor and this where the help is needed.. He said my spin rate was great, floating between 2480-2510. My ball speed was averaging around 145 mph. Launch angle was between 13-16 degrees with a 9.5 driver...... He had me switch from a 10.5, said I didn't need it.

Now the help.... what do those numbers mean? What do they tell me? Sorry for being a newb..... and thanks for the input.

Hi there,

Optimized launch conditions for a 150 mph ball speed is a 14 degree launch angle and between 2400 - 2500 rpm's of backspin. That will give you maximum distance.

The 1280 - 1310 rpms that you referenced isn't achievable with a driver. So, go back and get your accurate backspin numbers and repost your results. I'm sure you'll get some good advice here once you do.

Hope that helps.

Sorry... I went off memory! Obvioously that's not to good... lmao.

I corrected the numbers above with the right ones. That's why I tell my wife things so she can remember for me.

He's right....those numbers are ideal. I wouldn't change a thing unless you're not hitting fairways. Otherwise, I would recommend that setup too.

Hope that helps.

    • That answers my question.  That feels more natural to me. I'll work on that. Thanks
    • Complex question. Good players begin pushing forward around P2. Visibly around P3. They're well on their way forward at P4.
    • Still plugging away with the teacher.  I do have a question after working on some drills last night. This is something I should know already but for some reason, I have gotten myself confused. It deals with weight transfer on the downswing. At what point, should that take place?  Should it be early (prior to reaching A4) ?  I ask because in one of my drills  I get to A4, I feel the weight transfer AS my arms drop, and then go.  Now this may be totally normal, but I "feel" like this gets me in a weird timing position and causes me to try and do too much at once.
    • Tentatively in for at least one of those days. My job situation is a bit up in the air at the moment so need to get that sorted out first then I'll know more for sure or not.
