Hey guys,

I had a lesson on Tuesday, and he pointed out that I was doing a reverse pivot. He finally explained it in a way that I understood and so I've been working about shifting my weight to my back leg. I'm making inconsistent contact, hitting behind the ball some. I'm thinking that now that I'm shifting back better, I'm just not shifting the weight back forward enough. Are there any drills/swing thoughts that will help me get going back towards the ball? The downswing is always what I've struggled with, as far as swing thoughts go. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I used to have trouble getting my weight forward at impact.  I didn't have it all that far back, so I didn't slice radically, except when I tried to really go after a ball (and then had my weight back but not forward).  The two things that really helped me shift my weight were starting my pre-setting my weight forward and hitting a few balls (ignore where they'll go -- this is just step one), and then, after I was used to that, allowing my back leg to straighten (not lock!!) in the back swing.

This combination has helped me to make a proper weight shift and have my weight forward at impact;  in addition to picking up distance, I also picked up accuracy because my swing bottoms out much closer to the same spot each time.

I wouldn't think about to much. I would try to make sure to keep your posture and your head steady (not still) meaning it does not go up or down and it does not move left or right but it can swivel left and right. Sounds like maybe your getting your weight on your back side and getting stuck there. I would imagine a pole or stick or whatever running down the center of my body and just turning on that pole. There should be no lateral movement in the golf swing until after you hit the ball. Well there might be some lateral movement but it is very very little.

Just trying to help, hopefully it will.

Good Luck
