So as the title says i recently acquired almost a completely new set of clubs. New Irons, new driver and new putter. I have enough money left over to take 2-3 lessons so my question is this:

Should I take lessons fresh with the new clubs and let the Instructor work out how I need to hit them? OR Should I go hit the range swing them myself a few dozen times each, play a round or maybe two with them and then get those lessons?

Some background: I am a wildly inconsistent golfer with an average score around 95. My biggest issues with my old clubs were drastically Inconsistent distances distances with my irons, ex. My 5 Iron I could hit it anywhere from 150-190, and a fade off the tee that would occasionally manifest into a terrible slice.

I would go for the lessons right away, start fresh so to speak with the new clubs. Kind of an overall reset.

I know a lot of people might disagree with this but I like to try and fix as much as I can myself before spending money on a lesson.  I have only taken 2 so far and have another scheduled for May.

I don't want to spend the whole lesson talking about something I was able to pick out and correct myself.

Yeah I think in a perfect world Id love to go in with a fresh start and say "teach me to swing these" but at most i've got 3 hours with the guy Id like to be able to know what I really need to work on most. If I had the money for weekly lessons Id be more for going in fresh wiht the new clubs and trying not to develop any bad habits but in my case im leaning towards taking them out and playing first so I can really wok on certain things that might have the most affect on my game.

Yeah exactly, if I had the money to take lessons regularly I would just go in cold.  But when I can only afford to take one lesson every few months I don't want to waste that precious 30 minutes.

Videoing my swing has helped me catch some obvious flaws and I am trying to work on them before my lesson at the end of the month.
