Just looking for some thoughts on what everyone thinks the best VALUE on a 2-3 year old driver would be?  I was think the Callaway FT-3 Tour driver or the Bridgestone J33R?  Anyone others out there??  Thanks!

Check out the Cobra stuff. Their S2 driver is a monster, and can be had very cheap with a great stock shaft.

I still love my TM R7 TP from 2006.  Nothing wrong with 'old' gear.

Im quite happy with my Nickent 4DX Driver. Its from 08 and while it doesn't have all the hype of taylormades or callaways in my hunt for a driver I swung the Callway FT i driver as well as the Callway FT-iQ driver and then finally the Ping G10. I ended up going with the 4DX mostly because of price but now that I have it, while it is not as long as the FT-i or as strait as the FT-iQ it is a nice balance. It is easy to control, has a large sweet spot has good distance and good forgiveness but it not very much swayed into either category and feels very similar to me to the G10 Driver from ping. The 4DX got very good reviews and when it was new saw quite a bit of use on the Nationwide tour. The huge difference for me between the G10 and the 4DX.. price. A brand spanking new 4dx is about $50-$70 a used G10 even in the worst of playable Condition is at least $100 and more likely closer to $130 or $140.

Thanks for the reply's, I had a R5 TP a while back and wish I would have kept it.  I will have to take a look at the S2's and the 4DX.  T

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
