NYTimes - Flogton (easier rules) and now non slice golf balls

Flogton, not golf spelled backwards, on Sunday, with spray on driver head to increase distance, cheese grater on wedges and now this no slice golf ball. -One mulligan per one hole allowed. Choice of the do-over or original shot allowed.

-Three putt maximum.

-Six foot bump allowed. If it gets you out of a trap, so be it.

-Everything is a lateral hazard. Take the drop.

Enhanced;

-balls off green may be put on tees.

-move balls out of traps and hazards

-lube for less spin

-tossing the ball by hand

Certainly would lower the scores. I think the mulligans would slow it down, but who knows.

The purpose is to make the game more fun for the new or bad golfer.

I'm not a rules guru, but I believe they break the rule that says (in essence) that a golf balls cannot be designed to perform differently by being lined up differently. I only skimmed them, but I think both articles seem to hint at that, but neither say what rule the golf balls break. I think I'm correct on the rule though...
