Simple question.

Is it correct to say that from the start of the downswing wrist hinge is actively maintained until the club is parallel to the ground?

No.

If I never see or hear the name Jeff Mann again it will be too soon.

Some players increase wrist hinge on the downswing. Some players maintain it for a long time. Some sweep release - even Jason Zuback throws out the angle pretty early.

It depends heavily on what you're capable of and how it fits with the other components in your swing.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

I read the OP's question as "Do I have to make an effort to keep the wrist hinge held until the shaft is parallel", e.g. "actively maintained".

If that's the case then I don't see as you should need to providing your hip and arm motion is correct.

By "actively maintaining" the wrist hinge you're adding more complication into the swing as you then have to add manual timing to it rather than letting centrifugal force do the work for you.

Yes you are correct as to my query and I should add that I never really think about wrist hinge or actively maintaining it but I came across such a suggestion in an older topic that I was reading this morning.

Although I was 95% sure it is retained passively, knowing that something is 100% true of the golf swing is what sets you free, eliminates doubt, reduces the number of swing thoughts and allows me to concentrate on other moves.

So thank you for the clarification.

I wasn't trying to me a smartass by the way; just trying to help.
