No issues here with golfnow - I only use it for hotdeals and to check which courses are least busy. always check the course directly though before paying a booking site.
and especially in the fall where I'm at, the course might have fall and twilight rates that aren't on the website - have to call to be sure
Absolutely this! Only bad recycles I got were a couple of boxes of ProV1s from Academy a few years ago. They looked great, but played a full club+ short. Every ball from both boxes were dead; the covers had slight separation from the core. I get them online now (KNet) and have been very pleased.
Best club deal I ever got was in 1992. A retired rich fella at my dad's work had bought a full set (3i-LW) of Callaway S2H2 irons for ~$1800. Within 2-3 rounds, he decided he didn't like 'em...offered 'em to my dad for $250! Dad got them for me and I worked the $$ off. I played them up until I bought my Mizunos ~2.5 years ago. I still have 'em, and I think they are still great irons. Definitely long, and much more workable than my JPX825s, just not quite as forgiving. IMO, the best Callaway irons I ever hit, and it isn't close.
I checked today. There is a course by me that has customer appreciation this week and only the cost of the cart to play, $16. Golfnow hotdeal is $20 plus the $3.49! It pays to do your homework.
Another course near me is priced about $4 cheaper than Golfnow. That's not much of a deal.
I suppose with age comes some perspective I didn't have when a lot younger. My handicap is just a number and I would like to play as well as I'm able, but I don't obsess about it. I enjoy my golf all the time but of course enjoy my "good" rounds better than my "Not so good" rounds.
