So My game is starting to come around (shot an 84 friday) but my irons are still a little suspect. I'm making sweet contact, but what I'm seeing when I'm not dead on is either a straight-hook or a push. Could this be caused by an outside-in swing? I like where my game is going at the moment, but really feel like I'm on the edge of playing some pretty good golf if I can figure this out.

Not at all, no.

Brush up on the ball flight laws. Balls that hook require a REALLY closed clubface to pair up with an "outside-in" swing... and you'd know this one because the ball would start WELL left and hook from there.

Ok, that makes sense to me. So what would cause a straight-hook? I'm familiar with a pull-hook (at one time was quite common for me) I've made some big strides in my swing in the last month though. I know it's tough without video, but what am I likely doing where the bad results are either a push or a straight-hook?

Assuming my understanding of a strait hook being a shot that starts strait then fades, an outside in swing with the face square to the target could cause this could it not?

Face aimed relatively straight at the target at impact. Path moving in to out relative to the target.

Your stance might be pointed well to the right.

Thanks....... I had a feeling stance had a lot to do with it, especially the pushes, because it doesn't feel like a block, just that I hit the ball in the wrong direction
