Best Story: Tadd Fujikawa (16yr. made the cut -3: birdied 16, eagle on 18)
World Class players: Luke Donald, Jim Furyk (both will have excellent years)
Horses For Courses: Chad Campbell, Paul Goydos
Who's Hot This Year: Will MacKenzie, K.J. Choi (years looks promising for them)
Back In Form: Paul Azinger, Rich Beam, John Daly (JD, for now . . . )
Best Newbies: George McNeill (Q-school medalists -4) Jason Dufner (Nationwide -4), rest of the newbies struggled.
Blow ups: J.B. Holmes . . . +8 for the day (Wei was +6 . . . ouch J.B.!)
Who To Watch: Charles Howell III . . . has he recaptured his form?
Who Is Dangerous: Bubba Watson, had it to 5 under for the day at one point before falling back, has the length to go low here.

Who will win, Campbell likes this course.

What is your prediction now?

HONOLULU (AP) -- History finally arrived at the Sony Open when a teenager from Hawaii made the cut.

Michelle Wie won't be around to see it.

Tadd Fujikawa, the pint-sized high school sophomore who turned 16 on Monday, stole the show from the island's biggest golf star with an eagle on the last hole for a 4-under 66, making him the youngest player in 50 years to make the cut on the PGA TOUR.

He walked up to the 18th green to a standing ovation, the loudest of the week at Waialae Country Club, then sent the grandstands into delirium with a 15-foot eagle putt. He dropped his putter and raised both hands in the air, a smile stretching across his face.

Wie was wrapping up her press conference after again struggling off the tee on her way to a 76. She missed the cut for the fourth straight time at the Sony Open, this time by 14 shots.

Paul Goydos (63) and Luke Donald (66) shared the lead at 11-under 129, but attention shifted to the 5-foot-1 local who first got everyone's attention when he qualified for the U.S. Open at Winged Foot.

Fujikawa was tied for 24th at 3-under 137.

The youngest player to qualify for the weekend on the PGA TOUR was Bob Panasik at the 1957 Canadian Open when he was 15 years, eight months. Ty Tryon was 16 years, nine months when he made the cut in the 2001 Honda Classic.

Hi

John Daly has the capacity any given week to WIN, if he gets in the right frame of mind. If he starts to feel it . . . I remember seeing him at the AmexCo World Championsip in San Fran . . . best exibition of driving I've ever seen, totally awesome, and the rest of his game was sharp, he is a great player especially if he gets near the lead and believes he can win. Right now he may be too far back, but a 65 will put him in the mix . . . go JD!

    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.
