I have a 2001 Scotty Cameron Studio Design 1.5 putter.

After 10 years of keeping it in pristine condition from rusting, I recently slipped and it started rusting on me.

Looking for advice for how to remove the rust...it's not terrible which is why I'm not sending to Scotty Cameron restoration, but still want to fix now before it worsens.

Thanks so much in advance

could use some vinegar or some ketchup...even coke and a toothbrush to get in the finer/tighter spots...then clean it soap and water...then wd40 or oil-rag from scotty...best of luck gettin that back to great condition!

You could try WD-40.

I know you stated you didn't want to to so, but I would send it to the Custom Shop. I bought the same putter rusted out on E-Bay for $75. I sent it in and got it refinished in rust-proof, low maintenance Pro Platinum and to me it looks better than the original. Plus you'll get a brand new grip, shaft and headcover included.

A related question....how do you KEEP these kinds of putters from deteriorating?!? Just WD-40 or an oil rag??!?!?

Yes, it's that simple. Just repeat the process after every round. And if the putter gets wet during the round, dry it off immediately.
