Tried out the Nike Unitize Neo putter today . . . it's a putter forged from one piece of metal, yes, including the shaft, the entire putter (except the grip).

This is a FEEL putter, I compared it with the Cameron Studio Newport 2.5 and the Circa 62 #3.

The Circa was rock hard, the Studio was butter soft, but the Unitize was magical! It is different enough to warrant serious consideration.

Nike is not advertising this putter yet, Paul Casey is using it in Europe, but I wonder how many pros will be using it this year?

I'd say that it has sufficient character to be termed a new technology, a step forward and I may put one in my bag soon. It gives so much feedback on feel that it is likely to change your putting for the better. It's similar to hitting a forged iron in that you get a lot of information through the club about what you just did.

Has anyone here tried the Unitize? What did you think?

RXPhoenix,

The Unitized putters have the heads welded to the shaft, so in a sense it is one piece in that you can't replace the shaft, and the two are one piece, but they are not created as one piece, they are made as two and joined. Also, the putters are not forged, they are CNC milled from 303 stainless steel (a harder steel than the mild carbon in Scotty's Circa '62) and then welded to a shaft, the whole thing is then plated to cover the seam. It would simply be too wasteful to mill an entire putter out of one block of stainless steel. Justin Leonard has been playing one for a while. It's a good feeling putter and is priced reasonably well, it will be interesting to see how the market will accept it, especially with other clubs like Ping's Redwood and Mizuno's Bettinardi line priced in the same line.

RXPhoenix,

Thanks for the clarification . . . the salesperson didn't mention the facts as you did, indeed the weld is not visible, price 300 . . . still a very unique feel to it!

The Circa was rock hard, the Studio was butter soft

I had just the opposite experience when I tried out SC putters... I found the Circa to be much softer thant he Studio's.. Ended up with Circa #2..

Wow Billbill you like that Nike equipment don't you!? I'm going to have to check into this putter, I like the more traditional looking style over some of the other putters Nike has put out there.

Good luck everyone!

Just somethign about it besides Tiger that I like. It might have to do with the first decent set I got was a Nike set. But I do agree wiith you and I really like the look of the Unitize blade putter has that traditional blade that I couldn't get in the Black OZ Series.

Putted a few times at Golf Galaxy with it and like it but $250 for a putter seems like a lot to me, have to make sure that it is worth it.

I wasn't thrilled with the non-traditional look they had but I'll have to putt with one now. This is the first feedback I've heard.

Tried Nike... It was ok... Quite a good feel but still prefered Scotty.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
