is my putter conforming?

I have a 48" ping g2 long putter with 10degrees of loft. I have read the rule on usga website 100 times and am not sure if it is conforming. Do companies make sure all their clubs, in particular putters are conforming in design. Could I go to a tournament and be told it is not conforming?

My main concern is whether it can be effectively make to be vertically shafted by toeing the club. If the club companies are pretty strict on confirming with usga that clubs they create are conforming I won't worry about it.

Companies are not mandated to check every club. The usga has a publication called guide to clubs and balls that goes into exact detail. Do you have a picture of what you are describing? If you are asking, can I balance my putter so that the shaft is vertical to the ground while putting? I would say you are ok, as long as the putter you are using has less than 80 degrees of lie angle when soled on the ground. Have you modified it from oem specs?

AroGolf is correct when he points to the fact that nothing mandates each company to have each club tested. However, I would be surprised if something Ping sold in stores wasn't checked. While they don't check each club (individual items as produced), I'd be very surprised if each design wasn't run by a USGA official first.

I agree, the mfgs reputation is on the line, so they do make sure specs are conforming. But it falls short of every club being checked. The responsibility ultimately is the golfers.
