Hi everyone, I was just wondering peoples opinions. I have been playing very well this season. I have been shooting in the low to mid 70's and I have been hitting about 67% of greens and drive 283yds on average with hitting 50% of fairways. However I want to get below 70 this season, and I do not know if I should go see a swing coach. My putts are typically around 34, which I need to go down. Should I see a coach for my swing or for my short game or for both? Thanks

If you want to even sniff 70, your putting needs to be a LOT better.  Like averaging under 30 putts per round. You hit 12 GIR and you're a 7?  You are leaving a heck of a lot of strokes out on the course.

I'm not even close to a 7 and I average 28 putts per round. I shot 86 today with 30 putts. My problem was that I only hit 3 greens. That's my usual problem and the one I'm working hardest to correct. I hit a lot of fairways but I'm not very long off the tee, which contributes to my inability to hit greens. If I had your golf swing and my short game I'd be hard to beat. I think if I was you I'd start at the green and work my way back. Get your average putts under 30 and then see where you stand.

Edited to add: Seeing a pro is usually a good idea. They give putting lessons too. Just sayin'

Ok, I am a 16 and can't putt, so shouldn't give you advice and you shouldn't take it, but here is food for thought-you've probably already crunched these numbers.

The old adage is 30 putts.  All GIR plus 30 putts gives you a 66 on a std par 72 course.  You are hitting 12 of 18, so you have 6 shots to deal with which would yield 72 assuming you took an extra shot on those 6 holes. At 34 putts, you'd be shooting 76, and since you are shooting less than that, its not taking you an extra shot every time, which means you must at least be a fair pitcher/chipper. 34 putts is too many for a golfer of your caliber and goals, I think you need 28-30 and possibly improving your GIR.  If you backed off/chose a different club so your average was maybe 275 would you hit more fairways and as a result, more greens?

I think your bang for the buck so to speak is to improve your putting whether by lesson or other study and secondly to put yourself in better position off the tee to hit more greens.

Above advice worth about what you paid for it, LOL.

You've gained 23 yards on your drives and cut your hcp in half in 2 months since you posted your swing. I'd say keep doing whatever you're doing.
