Titleist Pro V1 vs. Pro V1x

I haven't seen a thread about this, so I'd like to hear everyone's opinion. I've played both, and to be honest, can't differentiate between the two. If you play the Pro V1, tell us why you choose that over the Pro V1x; and vice versa.

I believe that the ProV1x has less spin. It could be the other way around, but I think the Xs have less spin and the ProV1s are a little softer around the green and have more spin. Hope this helps!

If you can't tell the difference, you simply shouldn't be wasting your time playing them. (didn't mean for that to sound rude!) When I was a higher handicap I played the NXT tour and LOVED THEM.

Now, I couldn't play another ball besides the v1X

The V1's are a softer cover with more dimples giving more spin and feel

On the other side, the X's promote less dimples, a harder cover, and give less spin (to faster clubhead speeds) on driving to add extra distance. I notice quite a bit, much like the pros that play it have

They are both 3-piece balls, and can't be matched. I do like the Bridgestone B330S's though, they play nice as well.

I agree. Unlike the TaylorMade balls, the Pro V1/V1x are

distinctly different from one another.

The difference is especially noticeable around the greens (BIG difference in spin) and particularly when putting. The V1x gives you a little bit of a CLICK coming off the face, which is what I prefer. The regular V1 is like putting a super ball -- you can barely tell when you've made impact. This feature is often referred to kindly as FEEL, but as far as I'm concerned it is the ABSENCE OF FEEL, and one of the reasons I prefer the V1x and also the Callaway HX Tour.

Ditto what everyone else said. I play both balls. I play ProV1's in the winter and X's in the summer. The extra spin and softness helps hold hard winter greens and just has a better overall feel in the winter.

Agree with everyone above. The V1x is a much firmer feeling ball than the V1. They're both great balls, but the V1 just feels too mushy for my taste.

Noticed the same thing with the Callaway HX Tour and HX Tour 56. Played the 56 for a month or so last summer, and it felt way too soft. Like the HX Tour much better.
