I read his book and all it did was turn me off to him even more. It's not worth the paper it's printed on.

I'd say more than decent. Wouldn't be surprised if he turned in an 80 in the heat this afternoon though. I hope not, golf tournaments are just more exciting when he's in contention, especially in a major.

67 and three 73's... 32nd I think. Considering everything that's a nice showing for JD.

What's more of a surprise is the fact he actually survived 4 days in that heat on cigarettes and diet cokes.

September 20, 2007: Daly is entered in the Turning Stone Resort Championship. He tees off on #1, making par on 1, 2, 3, & 5 and bogey on 4, 6 & 7. So what does Daly do at that point? Buckle down and try to make a couple of birdies? Heck no, not Big John. He withdraws, of course.

I think Long John will have another dismal season on the PGA Tour in '07. My prediction does NOT mean I'm pulling against him, just being realistic.

This is what I said 14 months ago; since then J.D. seems to have been on a runaway freight train going straight downhill.

Sadly John Daly is close to what went on in the 70's. A lot of the players had the same lifestyle as John. Remember Johhny Miller talking about not knowing if your caddy was going to show up or not. Lets put it into perspective...heres what went on that you didnt hear..

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

this article was with a thread you tried to post earlier that was shut down unforunately.

Who remembers the good old days?...you could drink yourself in to the ground and drive home and there was little the authorities could do about it...until you mowed down a family on the pavement or crashed in to a ditch.

i don't think there's anything cool about drinking and driving- my advice is..if you see someone doing it call the police-you re doing the driver a favour and the general public a favour.

JD will probably be a well remembered golfing legend who tragically passed away in 10 to 15 years time...due to liver failure.

Im just saying that i never knew roger maltbie did that. I was really shocked. I mean he literally could have lost his winnings while drinking. Thats pretty extreme because the paychecks back then were really small-and imagine trying to support yourself.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
