A little while back I had heard from more than one source that soon Titleist would be introducing a new ball design. This was rumored to be replacing the Pro-V1 and Pro-V1x.

I have not heard anything else in a little while, does anyone have any information supporting or contending this? Titleist.com mentions nothing that I can see.

Thanks!!

Puttin4bird,

The new edition incorporates "seamless cover technology" much like Bridgestone's and Nike's. Seamless balls fly truer and have better wind resistance. I got my test samples in a while ago, I've played them, and they feel okay, but they're going to be more expensive, and still don't stack up to the Bridgestone B330 and B330S or Nike balls.

They also put an end to the fallacy that was "seaming."

I've never cared for the Bridgestone or Nikes. I have liked the TaylorMades... but I still prefer Titleist balls.

You really can't go wrong with any of the top balls if you do a little testing/playtesting and use a little common sense.

It said in Golf Digest that they were going to have a new member of the NXT family come spring, but that's about all I know...

Are you saying Jack Nicklaus was smoking crack??? He did a whole article in either Golf or Golf Digest about that. Supposedly thats why he swictched from Maxfli to Titleist. Although money would be my bet.

All I'm saying is that I have it on very good word (Titleist engineers) that "seaming" did nothing. The presence of a seam - regardless of orientation - may negatively affect ball flight just a little, but lining up the seam did nothing but, perhaps, help your alignment.

I'm joking with you Erik, I tried it a boatload of times and couldn't tell the difference. Supposedly If you lined the seam down the middle of the fairway you would get a low ball flight that rolled. If you lined the seam perpendicular to the fairway you got more carry? Is that right? I read that article and tried it with a dozen balls all with different numbers I put on the balls. I hit six one way and six the other. excluding the ones I hooked or blocked they all landed within 10 yards of each other. Thats when I said "Jack must be on crack" or better yet Jack "don't know jack."

I've still always used the word "Titleist" to line things up for my own odd reasons.

I know something is coming soon because we just put the Prov1's and Prov1x's on sale at the golf shop. I have several dozen Prov1x's laying around so I won't be switching right away but I can hardly wait to see them. I still might have to buy a sleeve just to check them out. The best ball in golf just got better.

I honestly don't see much difference other than they have the center line already drawn on it (people use it to line up putts so they roll better) and cost an extra $10.

Thanks for all the replies, I did find this on Titleist.com yesterday as well. I think I'll try them out, even thought I don't expect them to be much better than last year's model. I do like the line, I know lots of people who draw a line and use it for alignment.

For those who were too lazy to go to the Titleist site:

New Pro V1 Features and Benefits
• Improved, higher coverage 392 dimple design with new Staggered Wave parting line
• New, Tour-validated A.I.M. (Alignment Integrated Marking) sidestamp offers improved directional accuracy (I LOVE that they came up with an acronym for a line on the side of the ball......fantastic)
• Soft and resilient 1.530” core formulation and compression for outstanding feel
• Resilient ionomer casing layer
• High performance Urethane Elastomer cover technology
• Longer driver distance from enhanced ball flight
• Higher, more penetrating trajectory for longer, consistent distance
• Drop-and-Stop greenside control

Additionally, the site noted that the balls should be coming in February.

the fact of the matter is that Titleist had the CAHONES to upgrade their best, most advanced, and most technologically advanced golf ball.

That being said, these balls are going to be the SH*T!!!

Love the line, seamless design like the Bridgestone's are a great improvement, and I will pay whatever Titliest wants because the difference will be noticeable...if not, i'll still be playing ProV1x's anyways.

    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)
    • Day 9: 2026.01.11 Hit some balls at the range, concentrating on weight distribution at address, got some on film.
    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
