I was actually just refering to the iconic photo. Perhaps the most recognizable photo in golf?

But, Ben Hogan will rock Sam Snead

The only thing I ask is that the "thing" that makes them iconic MUST be unique and related to their golf, not a private life issue.

My own contribution is Miguel Angel Jimenez for the combination of his golf shoes and cigars.

When I bought my first set of clubs with my own money (not dads) I was working for Jolly Green Giant at a young age of 12 on a summer project, My favorite player back then (early 70's) was Arnold Palmer, I bought a set of Arnold Palmer signatures and it was a full set of clubs with bag and putter. Arnie was the man back then, Ill never forget when those clubs arrived. WOW!

Jumbo Ozaki is my true golfing hero, because for more than 110 wins worldwide, he is a member of the World Hall of Fame, he competed in several majors Top 10, and he dominated golf for 30 years here.

But more normally, definitely Shingo Katayama for his great incredible cowboy hat and amazing wardrobe collection clothes.

Growing up in Australia, there was only one golfer to follow, G.Norman. Striding global fairways, winning everything (except what he craved most), the best driver of a golf ball, charismatic and larger than life.

For me and my daughter.. It's Rickie Fowler..  I loved what Payne did for golf, and I find it equally exciting to see the new breed coming to age.. Rickie is good for the game.. We need more young blood, even if they have that "emo" type look, or whatever they call it these days..  We need to attract that next generation and Tiger isn't going to do it.. lol   Rickie, Rori and Dustin are our best hopes..  Ishikawa? is another for the young east fans to support..

I will have to say, I found it very silly and stuffy for Augusta to "demand" Rickie wear his hat a certain way during an interview.. Are you kidding me?

It's the same dress code for everyone.

It's still silly none the less.. To demand that I hat can't be worn backwards is just silly..

I think John Daly did more for his loud pants than Payne did for knickers. Okay, the Norwegian curling team may have gotten the those pants on the map, but still, nobody would have been caught dead looking like Payne Stewart.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

True.. true.. I forgot about John's loud pants..  Lets not forget Ian P. attire as well.... In any case, to me it was just silly for the Master's to allow Ian or Payne to dress they way they did.. but demand that Rickie's hat not be backwards during an interview after play..  Logic is mind boggling.. I think it was more personal, then professional..

At least Ian/Payne were wearing the clothes as they are intended to be worn. If Payne Stewart had gone in wearing his Knickers for a scarf i'm sure they would have said the same thing.

Also, The Rickie Fowler hat thing was so minor I'm surprised it even was a story. It was his first Masters and he'll know better from now on.

    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
