i know theres a couple threads on project x shafts, and while weve beaten the hell outta this topic, ive got one more question. I have a SW that came with a proj. x shaft (5.5) in it. Is this a mistake because the shaft is a low launch, low spin shaft? (i dont find it to be particuarly bad but i cant really tell this kinda stuff)

It depends on what you want out of your wedges. I have a set of Sonartec t35 wedges (52, 56 & 60) all with Project X shafts. I choose them as an experiment but found out I like the stiff feeling and lower ball flight in my wedges, I tend to hit the ball higher anyways so it was a good fit for me.

That being said I also have Rifle Spinners installed in another set of Sonartec t35 wedges and also like the feeling of these.....different strokes for different days and courses.

ya thanks for the info. i dont mind the lower ballflight at all, what im really wondering is what happens to the spin. I spin the vokeys just fine, but im wondering if say a rifle spinner would help to spin the ball more cuz proj.x is a low spin shaft..

I agree with Everardo. I have had both and liked them both. I did not notice less spin with the PXs but I ultimately favored the Spinners. Now I have a new set up Mizuno MP-Rs with 5.5 Spinners and they are the best wedge I have had. I know it was luck but I had 2 shots go in the hole last Saturday with my 58 from around 20-30 yards out. I also had 2 others I got up and down from very tough spots. I am pretty sure I was just having a good day but it does inspire confidence in your equipment when you can do that.

Bidding for MP 32's with Project X 6.5's. Never had rifles. What would equivalent shaft be in DG? I've had S300 before. Would the 6.5 be WAY too stiff. Driver swing speed is around 110-115. Hit a low trajectory with slight draw. 5 iron for 185, pw for 135. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

6.5 is really stiff esp. in project x. 5.5 in px is about s-300, and px usually play stiffer than labeled. unless u seriously kill the ball id go for like 5.5-6.0 (s-300/s-200). so 6.5 is prolly like x-100 at least prolly a little stiffer

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
