I'm going to St. Andrews to study abroad

I go to Michigan State University, and my school has one of the most extensive and diverse study abroad programs in the country. Well, long story short, I'm traveling to the home of golf this summer to study business management as well as the importance of golf in the business community. I will be staying at the University of St. Andrews and playing many of the famous links courses the country has to offer. The best part is that I'll be there during the Open Championship so I'll be taking the bus to Carnoustie that week!

Just posting this because I know you guys will appreciate this and my non-golfing friends are already tired of hearing about it.

My wife spent six months in and around St. Andrews in her youth. She has told me about walking around the Old Course. She has never been a golfer, so she had no idea how historic her trip was to us golfers.

You may be able to buy a links pass since you'll be part of the university. If you can, you will be able to play golf a lot cheaper than everyone else. The Old Course has a block of tee times reserved for students from St. Andrews U.
You may want to read "2 years in St. Andrews" by George Peper it will tell you all you want to know about the towne and all the quirks of the old course.
