I don't personally think uninformed people are meatheads. The only ones who bug me are those who know and don't care. It's humiliating to find out you've been doing something that is against proper etiquette. That ••••••• lens is just for fun to inform people. Hopefully it's entertaining and not degrading - I sure don't want to make people feel bad.

Don't feel bad at all. The site is an entertaining read.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I play with so-called idiots all the time. I even consider myself an idiot. However, I believe everyone is out to enjoy themselves and I will do everything I can to enjoy myself and try to beat the course that day. I find the other idiots in my journey entertaining, but mostly harmless. I never get mad at other players and just try to make the most of it, and make jokes with them or of them.

If someone acts beligerent or dangerous to another, that is when I draw the line, but I have rarely ever seen that.

Life's too short. Enjoy the round and enjoy the meat heads of the world. It's that simple.

A buddy and I went out on Friday afternoon after watching some March Madness games. 80 degrees outside, Nevada won in OT, and we got paired up with a couple of really cool older gentlemen. We were having a few beers, everyone was relaxed and shooting well, you couldn't have asked for a better time.

Anyway, we just got done with a hole and I hopped in the cart to pull around the green to the next tee box. As I pull around, I looked out to the fairway and two guys are full on fighting in the middle of the fairway. I didn't even think about it and drove straight to them, yelling to stop. They did stop and told me they were just playing around, but it was clear that it was a fight. One kid was getting pummeled and had a bloody nose. After they stopped I let loose on them verbally, told them, among other things, to get golfing or get off the course. There were three of them and when I started to drive away the one that wasn't fighting started talking tough to me! These guys were around 18 or 19 and would have just gotten destroyed if a brawl ensued. More words were exchanged, but they finally moved on. The rest of the round as we passed each other they would stare and they even flipped the bird at us a couple times. I was pretty hot, but kept a cool head and didn't say anything more. The older guys called the pro and told him what happened and he said he would get out as soon as possible.

It definitely put a damper on an amazing day, but I got over it and we still ended up having a great time.

The best thing about this story is how it ended up. These idiots must have realized they messed up and they ended the day a few holes early. When we were on 18 the pro finally made it out and we told him the details. He apologized and said he was sorry he couldn't get out earlier to handle it. As we were talking to the pro these kids start driving back out and were heading straight for us! They stopped and asked if we had seen a phone they lost out there! I couldn't believe it and I told the pro that these are the kids who were fighting. He basically couldn't do much, told them to find another course in the future, but we all took the opportunity to tell them about how stupid they were, and that if they don't cool it, someday they are going to mouth off to someone who won't show the restraint we did and get hurt.

Anyway, quite the experience, hopefully one that I won't have to relieve anytime soon and it makes a funny story.

Too bad NV lost yesterday... :(

What course was this at??! I can't imagine seeing a fight ensue on a golf course... lol Swearing on the course I can handle...in moderation. If you're cussing after every shot, you have a problem...

Yeah, UNR could have won the game, but they were just overpowered by Memphis. They're a good team and should give A&M; some fits.

It was at Wildcreek. I couldn't believe it either, but I'll bet it happens more often than you'd think. Wildcreek is a fun little course, but among my complaints about it is a lack of any marshal presence at all. There is a pretty decent membership deal, so it seems like most of the people that play there know each other and are fairly decent golfers. A marshal is not necessary most of the time, but I do think they should have someone out there making sure everything is moving along without problems.

ever since I started taking the game seriously I have become a "single" golfer. when I am playing with people I do not know, I do something simple..I'm nice. This will get you invites to play again and will make meeting new people a lot more fun.

I have a lot of meathead stories, but here is the best one I can think of.

One of the guys that plays my course is another one of those "single" golfers. He plays VERY early in the morning everyday, and often plays by himself. He says he is a 4 handicap, and the few times I have hooked up with him during these casual rounds I would say that is actually pretty close. However, when he plays in a real competition he is a totally different guy. He is a talkative guy, but after an uncharacteristic 42 on the front, he went silent for 4 holes. I mean he literally said nothing. I think he went on the bogie train until the 18th. And then on the 18th tee box, he proceeded to bang his driver against our tee markers...Our tee markers are made out of former railway tracks!!! The sound scared the crap out of me.

As a sinle golfer, I will play with just about anyone, but I kind of vowed to avoid that dude for a while.

What's in my bag:

    • Day 14:  I hit a bucket with my 7i and driver, didn’t hit my 7 well but my driver was good.  Played my first “real” 9 holes.  Sure, I had a few mulligans but I kept score.  Lost two balls in the water.  Had to chip from the edge of the water and did pretty good, just rolled too far past the hole.  Par was 33 and I wasn’t double but  I was closer to it than I would have liked.  I had a bogey on 9 so that ended it on a sweet note for me.
    • Day 134 - Had a tournament today, played poorly. Same as yesterday where the driving was great, but the second shots were awful. Need to dial that in tomorrow so I don’t finish DFL.
    • Day 313: range session. Worked on my feel for getting my hips more open/rotated at impact. Then did a stack session.
    • Shot a +1 73 today. Pretty pleased with the round even though it could have been 3-4 strokes lower without hitting it much different. 1 topped tee shot, a thinned wedge over the green from 40yds, and 2 putts that hung on the lip all could have made this a phenomenal round. 4 birdies total. Had an interesting back 9, 3 birdies, 3 pars, 3 bogeys and a penalty stroke. Birdied 1 and 18 so that was a fun way to start and end the round.
