Tom Watson said that tempo was always a big key for him, he found a sound from Sound of Music (Edelweiss) that matched the tempo he wanted to achieve and would "play" that song in his head to get to the proper tempo.  I think you are on the right track, just need to find the "song" that matches the tempo you would like to achieve.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

Why is everyone trying to find a way around spending $14.99 on something that has already been done for you. I just got the Tour Tempo (Total Game) App and I am very impressed so far. I will use it for the first time today on the range and I will report back... It fixes tempo, not a bad swing. It is still possible to have the worst looking tempo swing on your course...

Why would I pay $15 for something I can make on my own in minutes? Not to mention it would cost me an extra $30 a month to upgrade to a data package. I was thinking about upgrading my phone to get an app for GPS Course Yardages but the $30 extra per month makes it not worth it. I would rather buy a stand alone unit and pay a one time fee of $300.

All that being said, $15 for a software app that is nothing more than a click track seems overpriced to me.

Why would you need a data package? It's a standalone app that can be downloaded via iTunes and then installed from there.

As for over-pricing as I mentioned earlier, it depends on whether you're pricing the physical app itself or you're pricing the result you achieve from using it. For me the app itself is overpriced for a menu with several sound files and some explanation videos but the result itself is well worth the price.

For me the time and effort involved with finding, downloading and installing software and then creating my own mp3 click track to take it to the range, try it out, realise it's too fast/slow and having to re-record a new one with adjusted tempo etc isn't worth it; I'd rather buy an easily downloaded out of the box finished article which will give me the instant result I'm looking for.

As far as I could tell my phone plan basically requires you to have a data plan to use any apps. I also do not use Itunes.

If it works for you great. Since I already have the software and have been making midi files for 20+ years it will take me about 5 minutes to build click tracks at 20 different speeds, export to mp3 and then upload to my player. I figure that's about the same amount of time it would take me to find, download and install the app? Not worth $15 to me. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) which is something CuppedTin does not seem to grasp.

You're absolutely right man, I'm sure your way of doing it will result in exactly the same way as the Tour Tempo App... But to those that actually have an extra $14 dollars to throw around, buying the app or cd (which you can download to any mp3) is much easier than making midi files/click tracks or whatever you call it.

Ah right, see I don't know if any other app stores have the software, I only know that the Apple store does, hence the iTunes reference.

I agree completely regarding click tracks for you if you're already in a position to make them quickly and easily and for free. I didn't so my best option was "app store > "tour tempo" > install > password"

If you're serious about creating them yourself I reckon there would be a lot of SandTrappers who have no intention of buying the app and who would be most appreciative of you sharing any click tracks you create.

There is also a CD and book available.

I already stated if it works for someone I of course don't have a problem with that.... but Seriously? Now you are insuating that I don't have an extra $14 to throw around? Nice. Sorry Sparky, if someone didn't have an extra $14 to spend golf is not the game for them.

Man you are reading into this entirely too much, don't ever tell me what you think I'm (insuating) insinuating! I'm saying if anyone has an extra $14 then it is worth purchasing. Now take your 18 post and head somewhere else old man or PM me with your pointless reply and phone number because you are ruining this thread with your troll babble......

I think you are insinuating I am trying to troll. Whoops I did it again even after you told to never to do it again. I guess you don't have control over other people.

Seriously though, if you weren't trying to antagonize then I'm over it. No trolling on my part. Thought I was having a civil, interesting conversation until you started in with the attitude.

I have been out a couple more times and being able to listen to this tempo and "have it in my head" is helpful to me.  I will still get fast occasionally but I can bring myself back which I had trouble doing in the past.  It helped my driving a lot.

Tempo is all about consistancy in the swing and no swing thoughts. Thoughts in your swing bring in indecision and uncertainty and that can throw off your timing. But to me tempo is more to do with nailing the transition between the top of the swing and the downswing.

There are a few drills for tempo,

-Feet together drill, very common, good for balance

-I like to concentrate on keeping my right foot on the ground as much as possible in the swing (i am right handed). I found i get quick when that foot comes up fast. When i am in balance, that foot doesn't leave the ground until the rotation of my swing brings it up.

I realy do hate the whole counting thing, like, 1-2-3, its never stat well with me. Because i use to go, 1-2-3, and three would be very fast.I found my tempo with my lower body, and forgetting all swing thoughts.

The counting is not a steady beat.  I like the counting because it keeps me from making other swig thoughts.
