It happens to me sometimes, but i can normally find another fun guy at the driving range to play 9 or 18 holes with. If not, then i go walk solo, and most of the time, i play my best when im alone.

Your best bet when making plans for a group is to mainly rely on guys who play on a regular weekly basis.  Say make two tee times and of the guys you invite at least three of them are regular players who you know are proven to show up.  This way you know at least one tee time will be used and if you get lucky and some of the other guys show up you can adjust the two groups to use the tee times (e.g. a threesome and a twosome).  The best way I know to find regular players is to play regularly at a local course.  That way you can begin to meet these regular players and get to know them.  As you can tell by this thread having regular playing partners isn't always easy to find, but if you start with other guys who play regularly like you, then you know that those guys will show up to play if they commit.  As the earlier poster pointed out he formed a league from just this group of regular players and they all got together so that they could have a regular weekly tee time where they knew they wouldn't have to play alone or rely on being paired with someone at the last minute.

Seriously. I've been trying to put together 8 people to go out and play a round of golf. We planned it almost a month in advance. Then one by one people dropped out until there was only me. This happens all the time.

Every time i see people they're always like "yeah we should get together and play" or "that was fun that time we all got together, lets do it again" so i try to put it together and everyone backs out. I know people have busy lives and what not, but don't say you're going to show up and then back out. Just say you can't make it.

I give up. From now on i'm playing as a single. No more making plans.

Same here, especially with two of my buddies. If I ask them on Tuesday if they'd like to play on Saturday, the answer alot of the time, comes back "I'll let you know Friday". Friday? Are you kidding me? When I tell them I need to know before then, they get upset and say "Well, then I can't play". I understand that folks are busy, hell, so am I. But you can't expect  other people to wait until the day before to let them know.

my get up and go musta got up and went..
