I agree 100%.  Gimmes can get ridiculous!  I've played with people who have given 5 footers and I'm like what???  When I then lag up and leave it 4 feet, and they say "it's good," I don't say anything and still make the putt.  If I'm far away and they are about to hit it back to me I ask them not to as I will like to putt it in myself.

The ONLY time a gimme is somewhat ok with me is when say a 5 handicap who can''t take more than a double is putting for a triple from 3 feet in or so.  In that case, there really isn't much point in a casual game to force him to make that putt when we all know it's only going in the coumputer as a double.  I will let that one slide and if it was me, I would still putt it anyway.
