I just got finished taking a lesson with my local courses PGA golf pro and it helped termendously.  I had been reading alot on golf this year but he help me put it all together today after being in a rut for the last month.  I found out that my weight transfer and club face alignment was all wrong and he help me put it all together.  By the end of the lesson not only was I hitting the ball more consistantly and straighter, I was hitting the ball farther.

He was also very good at teaching me golf at my level.  I am a "advanced" beginner (score average around 120) so he did not overwhelm me with little details like he would if I was an average 80 shooter.  The pro listened to my golf goals (my goal this year is to break 100) and taught me what I needed to get there.  I plan on having a follow up lesson next week to make sure I retain the information.

The key part of the lesson was working on my driver.  This is the 1st year I have used a driver in 11 years.  I was hitting all over the place with it.  Now I have the ability to hit it properly and with confidence.

I highly encourage new or "advanced' beginner golfers like myself to take a lesson.  You don't have to do it every day or every week but you would be suprised what one or two lessons can do.
