What do you think? :D

  1. Van de Velde was more bad luck than choking. Seriously, if his ball doesn't nail that railing dead on, he wins easily.
  2. Winning by eight qualifies as choking?
  3. Minor choke. There have been bigger ones.

Erik J. Barzeski —  I knock a ball. It goes in a gopher hole. 🏌🏼‍♂️

Lots of people do, actually.

Nope, not a friend. Haven't even talked to him very much.

But in the scheme of things, not much of a choke. He was even par in the playoff, still got into a playoff, and had pressure applied to him. Those weren't "easy" holes, plus he made par when he had to on one of the toughest of the bunch. And you might define "choke" differently than I might.

Greg Norman, 1996? Bigger choke. The entire round. Six shot lead. Lost by several (no playoff).

iacas let me understand, you say that Dufner didn't choke and then you compare it to Rory at the Masters?!?!

To conclude, since this may last to infinity and it's becoming boring for the others to read, let's say we have different way to define same thing! ;)

Ciao ciao

No.

Not only is the thread really old now, but "not much of a choke" apparently means something different to me than you.

    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
    • Day 31 (2 Jan 26) - Usual Friday men’s group shootout - good day of shot making  as most shots were right on line to the target point.  Putter and green reads were solid with some great par saves and a really tricky birdie.
    • Day 13 - 2026-01-02 One hour short game work. Chipping balls to different targets, compass putting drill with 2-3% slope.
