Its usually a case of overswinging, not hitting the ball on the way down.

I would just focus on making a smooth swing and getting back in rhythm.

This is the issue I had. I would try and overswing instead of just taking a nice and easy normal swing. It's made a huge difference.

I used to have the same problem. To me, I put pressure on myself if I teed the ball up because it's a 'perfect' lie so I better not screw it up. Surely enough, I do.

The best practice, IMO, is if you have a grass driving range, try teeing the ball up there and work on building some confidence of hitting the ball both on turf and on tee.

It's really frustrating since I feel great hitting them off the fairway/rough, but I must do something differently when on the tee box. Anyone have any tips for this? I'm assuming I am trying to lift the ball up when on the tee box instead of hitting down on it.

Funny...I was having the same problem. For some reason, I am confident hitting approach shots with my irons but, a bit rattled on the par 3 tee boxes. They way I'm getting around this is by convincing myself ,while standing on the par 3 tee box, that I'm hitting an approach shot. Since I'm hitting an approach, I do not use a tee. Just something I do and has been working..so far.
