That is awesome!  Congrats.  Now, inquiry minds want to know; what did you do to get from that 7-9 handicap down to a .9?

Wow..I don't know where to start!............my point is any barrier can be smashed whether you believe it or not!!

I suffered through years of frustration.......Breaking through the wall didn't happen overnight.  I thoroughly came to accept my fate that I would never get better, but I just kept playing/never practiced........I just play A LOT.  I failed to improve for so long that I was OK with where my game was.........   I never thought in a million years I would crack through to a new level.  I just didn't want to get worse!!!! ....Hahaha...I kid you not!!!  Even today, my goal is the same, but as the years go by.........the wall broke.

From about 1996-2005.....I felt forever stuck as a 7-9hc......I lost all hope of getting better.  I just figured...OK.....it is what it is, my best index was about 7.0....

I kept playing and trying.........around 2006.....my HC dropped like a rock to 4!!!  In 2009, I sniffed a 2..........I thought I was stuck then too and was OK with it.  Here I am in 2011....0.9.   It may be a fluke, but I don't care!!!!!!  I cracked new ground and that is all I care about!!!!!!........if I drift back to a 2 I won't complain because I can forever claim my  0.9..........what the hell!!!

LOL...that's my 2 cents....

I'm jealous ... wish I picked up the game earlier in life & had 10 years to flounder in the single digits ... enjoy the moment - that's quite an accomplishment !

Awesome. Congrats on your new revision. Now it's time to get to work. Like you, I was elated when I got my first 0.x revision but, to tell you the truth, it was nothing compared to how I felt when the card read +x.y. Now, every revision w/out that little + hurts (but only a little). :-( Congrats on your progression and keep it up! :-D

Congrats! I'm new and just found the thread. I must say that as someone else who is trying to push through to that next level, don't stop there! From the looks of it, you aren't too far off from another great accomplishment.

Heck...I wish I started earlier too!!  I didn't start playing until after I was married.   If I had it all to do over again....I would have started playing as a kid.........

Thanks!!

Once again, I can't imagine improving further without serious short game practice.  With that said, if there is one thing I have proven to be true is there is anything is possible!!  My first ever hope of seeing a -0.something revision  is now definitely within reach!!.....in all honesty....I don't expect it.  I think I may have peaked...LOL

But there is always HOPE!!!

It’s a phase when you feel that you are stuck for long. I was lucky enough to get out of it after 5 months, when I was playing with my boss. Although I was lucky enough to win and get going, I was also responsible for the proceeding days in the office. My boss made my life miserable in the office.

It took me a decade to crack the next barrier.......

There is definitely hope for any of you who feel hopelessly stuck.  For me, I never practiced...........I just played a lot.   (100+rounds per year average)

After being hopelessly stuck, it just happened.  It wasn't just 1 thing......I think my game is pretty well rounded as far as driving, chipping. putting, shot game goes......no 1 thing stand out. It wasn't like the light-bulb suddenly turned on....it was gradual.

Well done man! Its interesting as a mid-single to look at your score history and see where the difference is. I actually post fewer big numbers than you do, but don't have the ability to go as low on a good day. Scores tightly clustered in 77 to 80 range. My goal for the next year is to work that "average day at the office" band down to 75 to 78. Thanks for the encouragement and good luck with getting to scratch.

If you can easily pin point one aspect of your game that needs improvement (your short game, as you mentioned), there is no way that you have peaked. Start working on one aspect at a time and go from there. Fit in what practice you can, whenever you can. I was shocked how much better my putting got when I started carpet putting at every chance. I have a spare putter and a few balls that I keep in the house and I'll just hit a few putts throughout the day. I just work on a smooth stroke, feel and distance control. Something as simple as that can really help improvement.

    • I don't have enough details to know what to tell you, man. If they were walking across, to play devil's advocate, maybe just wait another 10 seconds next time.
    • Day 11: Putts with a metronome and worked on some feels for greenside shots.
    • I realize the frame cuts off my tail but wanted to specifically see my hand path and club shaft and head travel from A5 to A7 with the grip and posture work I have been doing . This might be the shallowest I have managed to get the club head to enter into impact. I like the finish much more as well.
    • Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).   But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.
