Some golfers get a bad reputation, but Stewart Cink is one heck of a nice guy

Stewart has always been my favorite golfer for many reasons; he played at Georgia Tech where my grades wasn't good enough to get into and I had to go into another engineering school, he is a fellow Georgian, he shares the same faith that I do and I believe him to be an all-around good family man, citizen, and supports his community etc....without no need for recognition.

Anyway last week after hearing about something he did in the community I thought I would write him a letter and tell him how much I, and I thought maybe the public, felt about his contributions and forgot all about the letter. Then a week later (today) I received this in the mail with the contents (in the photo) in the mail. He could have just tossed the letter in the trash but in return he signed and sent this to me. I thought that was pretty cool. A lot of professional sports athletes wouldn't take the time to do this but I thought it says a lot about him and his beliefs and the way he feels about his fans.

Thanks

Stewart

A couple of years ago, I was practicing on the range at Charlie Yates just before the FedEx Cup Final at East Lake.  There was a huge area of the range closed down and when I inquired why they told me Cink was coming to do a free clinic for the kids in the First Tee Program.  I though it was pretty cool that he would do that just before a big tournament.

I've always liked Stewart. He seems like a stand-up guy who loves his wife and kids without making a show of it, and his interactions with people on Twitter and at tournaments has always been awesome. I've talked to him a few times in Columbus, OH and he's got a good sense of humor.

He's a good one to follow on twitter. Always upbeat, talks about his family, and very respectful towards other golfers.

I never had issues with golf players, been to the Bridgestone alot of times, you can tell when players just don't want to sign autographs. This was back in the late 90's though. I don't know anyone personally, but i was never shunned by them when i was a kid. I had a friend who Ernie told him to back off, i don't think Ernie liked the North course at Firestone when they held the tourniment there one year when they redid the south course.
