Difference between a gap wedge and an attack wedge?

I have the TM SuperLaunch iron set so I have 4i-AW and Ive always though that the attack/approach wedge (heard It called both) was the same thing as a gap wedge. Any insight?

It is a wedge that in between your PW and SW whatever the hell you want to call it.

It's called a Gap Wedge because it fills the 'gap' in lofts between your PW and SW.

It's called an Approach Wedge because it's the perfect club for 'approach' shots onto the green for many players.

I've never heard it being called an Attack Wedge.

Either way it's the same club.

24 100 results on Google on "attack wedge" 334 000 results on Google on "approach wedge" While "approach" seems to be the most common, "attack" is also used by some. But yes, a gap wedge and an approach wedge is pretty much the same thing. A club between the sand wedge and pitching wedge. The only thing that matters is of course the loft on your club. Some might call and use a 56" as a gap wedge, others might call it a sand wedge. Some iron sets are weak lofted, which means the AW could almost be below 50º. You might want a second GW to put in the bag with 54º.
