I keep mine loose in one of the smaller pockets of my bag.  That way when I need one I can just reach in and grab one without having to fumble with a sleeve.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

I'll have all the used balls in one of the bigger lower pockets. Assorted new/like new balls in a smaller upper pocket, plus, I'll usually try to carry one new sleeve. I like to start my round with a new ball and will usually use the ball I ended my last round with as a second in case of a needed provisional. Balls in the upper pocket will be put into play, once a ball has a scuff from cart path or something it goes into the bottom pocket and will become a practice ball.

I keep a pocket for my good balls, and one for the crap balls. If I refill the good pocket I will usually just dump the sleeve in there so if I need one I can just reach in and grab it. Depending on the golfing situation I will sometimes throw in a backup sleeve in a large pocket just in case and I'll remove it after if I didn't need it.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I go through balls somewhat quickly....unfortunately.  So I keep at least a dozen lose in my Ogio golf bag's zipperless ball pocket which I really like.  Quick access and no fumbling to get them out of sleeves.

I keep between 6 and 18 balls in the sleeve in the large pocket at the bottom of my bag.  I'm a little OCD when it comes to balls, I don't play what ever I find, I only play new balls, I've been on a very hot streak as of late, I don't lose balls very often, the current ball in my bag has 18 holes under it's belt, the one before it had 45.

I distinctly mark my balls, with lots of lines, a dozen balls at a time and put those balls in a pocket without packaging. Only marked TM Penta balls go in that pocket. So I usually have 6-18 balls in the bag at any given time. I buy the balls in bulk before the season starts and hope they last all year.

Other high quality volunteer balls get marked slightly differently and put in a second pocket for use on practice holes, sometimes as provisionals, or when trying high-risk shots from the tee (e.g. going for the green on the opening hole with water short and pin-high left, heather right, and lots of ways for a pretty good shot to turn out bad but an eagle putt if you pull it off). I keep about six of those "good others" in the bag at a time. That means I could have as many as 24 balls in my bag at any one time.

My home course offers lots of chances to loose balls. More often than not I'll loose at least one ball during the round.

I usually ride so weight is not an issue. If I'm a guest at a club with caddies, I change out my bag to a very light bag and carry only as many balls as I think I'll need plus three or four for good measure. I also get rid of unneeded rain gear, winter gear etc.  For example, one nice club near me very little water. It plays to a 133 slope yet I can play several rounds there without loosing a ball. So I'll bag about five or six balls just to be safe. Likely I carry too many balls, but I used to be a 20 handicap and some fears die hard.

    • Okay, I had these two assumptions wrong. That would be my premise for hitting driver. I promise I'm not high.. lol. Fair enough.

    • Wider than most fairways, yes (thus why I don't hit 100% of my fairways), but most holes I play have 65+ yds between hazards (or areas where I can't easily advance my ball to nGIR) so the majority of the time when I hit driver I am able to find it and have a reasonable look at the green.  That would not necessarily be the case on this hole, especially because a mishit driver brings those left trees into play.   PGA Tour players average 2.82 strokes to hole out from 40yds in the bunker and 3.15 strokes to hole out from 60yds in the bunker.  2.82 strokes to hole out from the fairway is like 110yds and 3.15 strokes to hole out from the fairway is like 190yds.  Now granted I would only have that 50yd bunker shot 1/3 of the time, but it's still a VERY difficult shot especially for amateurs.   Haha trust me I love chasing birdies, but I'm averaging 2.78 birdies per round this year so that's not my issue, I need to make less bogies (5.2 per round) and doubles (0.42 per round)
    • Vishal, what are you doing here? PGA Tour players are about 65 yards wide, often 70. Huh? A 50-yard bunker shot is one of the toughest shots in golf. Are you okay? 🤣
    • Day 608, July 3, 2024 Played 18 holes with a student. White tees. Wasn't really working on my stuff, but hit some really good shots. Drove 16 to the pin-high rough 3" from the fringe. Hit some tremendous long irons.
